My friends says I look like I don't know what a smart phone is. I don't know what that means but I like to think it means I have magick in my blood. 🌼 Bee - 24 - they/them 🌼

Potentially bold claim but American episodes of Black Mirror always fall short. The humour is too on the nose. The plots always feel farfetched. Give me laughing at something then realising oh fuck that's actually pretty disturbing and could very possibly happen like in The Waldo Moment. Make me root for someone only to find out they're actually a deplorable human being to the point I still grimace when I think about it years later like in Shut Up and Dance. Give me an incredibly tense episode with virtually no relief like Hated in the Nation.

What makes Black Mirror so special is that it's a sci-fi horror that feels like it's just a couple of years away. It makes you think about your own choices. Joan is Awful had so much potential to explore AI and deep fakes. Instead it was almost an hour of oh my god is that Salma Hayek and don't forget to read the T&Cs. Ark Angel started off feeling possible and just kept getting more ridiculous. I don't even remember the Miley Cyrus Episode bar the song (the song however, works perfectly). There are episodes of Black Mirror I watched over five years ago and still remember with vivid discomfort. The American episodes never seem to reach that discomfort that makes the show so unique and terrifying.
