Maverick is an eight year old long haired, sable, Alaskan Malamute. He enjoys dancing for food, tummy rubs, and making friends with dogs that want nothing to do with him. He is not neutered so hopefully there will be mini Mavericks later.

I had to say goodbye to the sweetest of boys yesterday. My sweet boy, my flufpuff, my buddy. 10 years was too short. I’m glad we got to spoil you and give you all the things you shouldn’t have. I’ll see you later.

Maverick was 11 and had a hemagocarcinoma on his spleen. A very aggressive cancer that comes out of nowhere. He had seizures, a small one and then two longer ones on Wednesday. When mama brought him in on Wednesday the doctors said we could do surgery and then chemo but he would only get 6/8 months until we had to let him go. And that’s without the probability that it had metatistized to his brain or liver or heart which they said could be the cause of the seizures. And without the surgery the hemagocarcinoma could rupture and he would bleed out. So Thursday mama picked him back up from the pet Er and we planned to spend the next two days with him til letting him go today.

He’s always been such a healthy dog and the seizures really took it out of him. He was loosing coordination and his breathing was labored and he didn’t have the strength to hold his big ol head up or even paw for pets. One sister lives 4 hours away and the other one is overseas so we planned on E coming in once she got off work. My amazing family of friends came and gave him love but with how fast he was deteriorating we decided yesterday morning that it was time.

He was perky a few times, loved the car ride, had a whole rotisserie chicken, pizza, and all the milk bones he could stomach. Got a brushing and it was a beautiful cool fall day. My sweet boy was petted and loved and kissed and sang us a final I love you before he went to sleep.

He was a beautiful soul and we were so lucky he chose mama all those years ago.
