Happy Friday! I'm spending my Friday night reading The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin. I'm hoping to finish it before the book club meet-up tomorrow. I honestly haven't heard about this book until I joined the book club. I'm halfway through this book and it already made me tear up. Both of the main characters are terminally ill and the book is set in a hospital. The two instantly become friends and start a special project. I have a strong feeling that this book will make me cry. Anyway, what are you reading? Any exciting plans for the weekend? Wishing you all a wonderful day/night. 💜 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp6DSG1IvYk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

What are you currently reading? . I started Big Swiss by Jen Beagin on audio. I read Beagin's debut Pretend I'm Dead in 2019 and its sequel Vacuum in the Dark in 2021. I enjoyed both so I was looking forward on reading this book. What I love about Beagin's books are the female characters and the humor. In Big Swiss, we have a 45-year old sex therapist's transcriptionist named Greta. She becomes obsessed with Flavia, one of his boss's clients, whom she refers to as Big Swiss. They accidentally meet in real life and they start having an affair. I'm only 20% in but i'm loving it already! Huge thanks to @librofm for the alc. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpdh9LlodFu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy weekend! Do you have any exciting plans? Any books you want to finish? . I'm still reading the two books I started in February. I'm planning to finish them first before starting with my March tbr. Anyway, the notes on the second picture are my favorite lines from Every Heart a Doorway which was a 5-star read for me. . I wish you all a wonderful Friday! https://www.instagram.com/p/CpVzPeYIa_K/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

What are some of your #toxicreadingtraits ? . Mine are: - making monthly tbr list but not sticking to it - joining reading challenges and fail - being stingy with giving 5-star ratings - judging books by their covers - listening to my favorite songs while reading and end up singing - reading too many books at the same time - constantly checking how much pages (or time) left until I finish the book - always get confuse with character names - reading ebooks and ignoring the physical ones in my shelves - falling asleep while reading especially if i’m in a very comfy position . I saw this tag from @estherfungreads and thought it's fun to do it. Consider yourself tagged! Happy Weekend Eve. 🖤 https://www.instagram.com/p/CpTQtpEon-R/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Books that I thought I would end up giving a 5-star rating. I liked them but not as much as I wanted to. I gave 2 stars to Normal People and 3 stars to Beach Read, Carrie Soto Is Back, and Tomorrow 3x. How about you? https://www.instagram.com/p/CpNdZXJI7n8/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

If you could buy any three books right now, what books would you be grabbing? . Mine would be The Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chockshi because the cover is gorgeous and the story was great, Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez because it's one of my most anticipated releases this year, and lastly, Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire so I can highlight all my favorites lines. . Took this photo when I visited Fullybooked last year. Happy Sunday! https://www.instagram.com/p/CpIjQ4Eomvl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"In the end, a fairy tale is nothing more than a sense of hope. Hope lures and tricks. It tempts with shining thrones, exquisite nectars, and loving arms. It whispers to us that we are extraordinary. Exempt. Thus lured, we follow its path. Sometimes we are led to riches. Other times, we are led astray. But this hope never hides its shape, and for its honesty we reach for it and pull its sweet and stinking furs up to our chins, for to live without it means living without magic." . #kathreadsreview | The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi was one of my most anticipated reads this year and is definitely one of the most gorgeous book covers ever! I loved the alternating timelines and the dual perspective. I loved the dreamy writing and it was delightful listening to the audiobook as well. I also loved the mystery and the spooky setting. I liked the different fairytales and myths that were mentioned. I did guess the twist early on but it didn’t hold me back from enjoying the story. This is a haunting tale of friendship, love, secrets, and betrayal. . Huge thanks to @librofm for the audiobook and this mug! Happy Publication Day to "On the Savage Side" by Tiffany McDaniel! I haven't finished reading it yet but I'm sharing some of my favorite lines from the book. The author's writing is stunning but sometimes I need to stop reading because it's hard to digest some of the scenes. It's a dark, heartbreaking but powerful read. . 📖 About the book: "Arcade and Daffodil are twin sisters born one minute apart. With their fiery red hair and thirst for an escape, they forge an unbreakable bond nurtured by both their grandmother's stories and their imaginations. Together, they create a world where a patch of grass reveals an archaeologist's dig, the smoke emerging from the local paper mill becomes the dust rising from wild horses galloping on the ground, and an abandoned 1950s convertible transforms into a time machine that can take them anywhere. . But the two sisters can't escape the generational chaos that grips their family. Growing up in the shadow of the town, the sisters cling tight to one another. As an adult, Arcade wrestles with these memories of her life, just as a local woman is discovered drowned in the river. Soon, more bodies are found. While her friends disappear around her, Arcade is forced to reckon with the past while the killer circles ever closer. Arcade's promise to keep herself and her sister safe becomes increasingly desperate while the powerful riptide of the savage side becomes more difficult to resist. . Drawing from the true story of women killed in her native Ohio, acclaimed novelist and poet Tiffany McDaniel has written a powerful literary testament and fearless elegy for missing women everywhere." https://www.instagram.com/p/CopqSE7IqqT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

What are you reading? I'm currently reading Salt and Sugar by Rebecca Carvalho. A young adult book about the grandchildren of two rival bakeries working together to save their family businesses. This book is set in Brazil, has enemies-to-lovers, has a lot of mouth-watering desserts, and more. I'm also reading On the Savage Side by Tiffany McDaniel which is inspired by the unsolved murders of the Chillicothe Six. https://www.instagram.com/p/CoajBLVr44j/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"Loss came in all shapes and forms, but it hadn’t occurred to me until now that you could lose the things you never had." . #kathreadsreview | Ghost Music by An Yu . Song Yan dreams of becoming a concert pianist but gave up her career and now living with Bowen, her workaholic husband, together with his recently widowed mother in an apartment in Beijing. Shortly after her mother-in-law’s arrival, mysterious boxes of mushrooms native to Yunnan begin to arrive. They have bonded over cooking but tensions rise when her mother-in-law starts criticising her for not being a good wife and for not having a child yet eventhough Bowen is the one who doesn’t want children. Song Yan receives a letter which leads her to an infamous pianist who went missing years ago. . I liked the dreamy and beautiful writing. Not everything is explained in this book and there were some parts that didn’t make sense to me but the characters were interesting enough for me. Song Yan discovers some jarring secrets about her husband. She starts questioning her life choices while realizing what she really wants to do with her life. I also liked the magical realism and the role of the mushrooms in the story. Some of the themes in this book are grief, loneliness, and self-discovery. 3/5 https://www.instagram.com/p/CoPTvBZo54q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
