Some news for you. I have a new record coming out in February. Sacred Bones, (who puts out lovely releases by artists like David Lynch and Jim Jarmusch & Jozef Van Wissem, and Zola Jesus) is my new home in the US. For the rest of the world, Bella Union is my new record label. Bella Union is home to artists like Beach House, Dirty Three, lots of good stuff... So, Box of Cedar Records is back after a little post-release break with some exciting news. The Sister, the companion EP to my self-titled record, was released in late May. I'm working on new songs, and recording covers as well almost every day while I write to keep my fingers warmed up.

I do not have that many guitars :) Also I was once accused of not liking anything with a beat so I wouldn't really own a drum kit. This accusation was later taken back. I like the rock and roll.
This mp3 has been floating around for a while on the magical interweb, and is a cover of one of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs, Winter Lady. You can download it for free here: http://soundcloud.com/marissanadler I am aware that I titled it wrong in the actual track, because I always think of this song as more about traveling and less about winter. I feel badly about making a mistake when covering an artist I revere.
The song is part of my soon to be finished Covers Record Volume II that was an incentive to pre-order "Marissa Nadler." So strange to refer to myself in third person. Anyway, I am almost done with the record and apologize for being late with it. I just wanted to it to be as good as I could make it and the kickstarter took so much energy out of me I couldn't focus on creating the record within the time span that I gave for myself.
