Being without him for the summer was the longest she’d been away from him since they’d fallen for each other. It hadn’t been easy, tolerating her family while being separated. He was the light she looked to every day, and from the other side of the country she felt in the cold dark despite summer heat. The way she lovingly relaxed against him was not unlike a cat stretched out on a new heat source.
"As long as I get to be with you. Where did you want to take me to dinner?" Shifting, she still didn’t move off his lap just yet. He was warm, sweet, and all she longed to do was stay right there. To nuzzle his neck, suck on his earlobe, and eventually fall asleep on him. Dinner first though, right?
The vibration of Juliet’s words flowed through her and into him. She was a real, physical weight on top of him and he was certain he would never want anything else.
He gave a soft, amused laugh through his nose and turned his head to set his cheek against her hair. “Mmmm.” His voice vibrated them too. Together they would make a fine purr.
“I don’t care for the food so much as the environment. Somewhere quiet. Dim. Intimate. Romantic, even.” Jonathan smiled a very tiny smile. “Somewhere I would take you if I’d only just met you and wanted to impress you. Like in books.”
