21th August 2006 → 21th August 2016: 10 years of SCANDAL

From teens that never would have thought of being in a band for such a long time, to young ladies whom goal is now to set a new Guiness Book of Records for the most long-running girl band (ZELDA, 17 years).

Many things have happened along the way: new records have been set, small fights have helped the girls’s bond to get even tighter and also some worrisome situations have accured like Haruna losing her voice at the end of 2011 or Mami’s bed health during the first part of 2016. But the girls have always sticked together and they moved forwards.

With a well established carrier, this powerfull all girl band has become a role model for many other young girls and ladies, setting a new trend in female bands and contributing to increase the number of female group within the japanese music’s market.

This band might have been created by fate since the girls didn’t feel the desire to learn how to play an instrument and they have been picked up to make a band by their teachers at Caless, but facts are clear: the fate wasn’t wrong when it tooks its decision. The girls have been driving like crazy for these ten years non-stop, every year trying to go even further and go beyond the members’s limits. They started with basic knowledges of their instruments, dressed up in uniforms because they were still high-school girls and they are now adult who got rid of their teenage years’s fashion and they are now in complete comande of everything regarding the band: schedule, fashion, artwork design and, most important, the music.

I discovered this band in 2008 with DOLL release and I’ve followed every step the girls have done from that moment. This journey was, is and will remain forever one of the best I have ever had, even if sometimes I didn’t fully agree with some decisions the band put through musically speaking. The most precious thing a fan can do is to love unconditionally a band and always sticked by their side no matter which new road the group decide to take. You may not enjoy it, but you’ll always keep an eye on them like they are your sisters, your friends that kept you company, that made you laught and cry along with them so many times. I could write an essay on why SCANDAL is such a special band by keeping such an easy-going vibe around them that this post will get to long to handle - maybe another time, maybe for their 20th anniversary.

Congratulation for such big goal in your carrier SCANDAL! Let’s keep moving forward under the same sky!

Congrats to SCANDAL! I’ve been following the girls since 2009 and I can’t express enough how much these girls means to me. I agree with op, I don’t see them as my ‘idols’ anymore, rather they’re like my sisters and friends because that’s the atmosphere you’ll get from them. It’s fun and inspiring watching their lives and documentaries because you can really see the chemistry and friendship between them. I’m glad I stick around despite their crisis back in 2011, because how can I not, when the girls themselves—especially Haruna—made it a point not to give up and go on. And look where they are now, touring left and right like it’s second nature to breathing xD

absolutely don’t feel sorry for that, lieanndesu! I made that post a bit personal because I wished that other people would share their experience as a fellow scandal fan (with an edit as I did or by text post - it doesn’t matter). Reading other people’s feelings/thoughts make the scandal fan’s tumblr community more “alive” imo, so I’m happy you wrote something under my post ヽ(´o｀；💛

I feel words can’t really describe as to how much SCANDAL means to me! I’ve actually only been a fan for almost three years, and when I first discovered them by giving their first record a try, I was blown away with how their great sound is, and deeply explored the rest of their unique music, to see just how talented these girls are! I definitely mark them as one of the very few powerful all-girl rock band that’s really caught my attention –seeing as most bands I listen to are guys, so I feel that is pretty rare xD all the more reason this band is very special to me!– not to mention, Tomomi’s one of my top favorite bassists, and definitely one of the reasons why I picked up on playing bass months (and of course, customized to look almost exactly like her first red Jazz Bass xP).

Also, not only the music, but seeing their blogs, messages and videos really connected me to the band for who they are! They all seem like super nice, caring, and fun people you’d want to be around with! Like I said, even though I’ve been a fan for a very short time, I’m still very proud of how much SCANDAL has done for the past ten years, and hopefully continue doing so for many years to come! I thank these girls for creating marvelous music that really inspires you and to very much appreciate music in general! Happy 10 years, SCANDAL~!!

just wanted to add something (hope you don’t mind!): it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a fan of a someone, but how much you love that someone ♡ and your message is the proof to that! 

guys never feel sorry or lesser to anyone for the number of years you’ve been a fan, feel proud to be one instead. Being a fan is not a competition, it means “share love to the same group/person”!
