Capable could practically feel the tension from the other before her. It was nearly tangible. She didn’t even need to see the glare he sent her way. She felt it. And she glared back, green eyes sharpening as they studied him. “Pretending won’t make a difference. The past is the past. Why not just go forward? And yes, if you hit me I will hit you back. Again.”

The Warlord did not speak but instead felt a brow slowly arch to the words of promise from his dear, sweet Capable. He felt a heavy sensation weigh heavily upon his weathered heart as the idea of a healthy, perfect Son invaded his thoughts.
How marvelous that would be for h i m, for his p e o p l e, for the W O R L D.
— “You know I do not deal with IFs, Capable. I only deal with certainties. Give me what I desire most and you know I will give you the Skies above and Earth beneath our feet.” His voice of iron and rust fills the space between them as arctic hues remain fixated on her in an attempt to read her face.
The idea of survival, of freedom, was a constant notion running through the young woman’s mind. She, along with her sisters, would do practically anything to achieve it. To be away from the man who claimed to be the god this dead world needed. Sometimes, when the sunlight hit her skin just right, Capable could dwell on thoughts of running on the dry, cracked Earth. She would run anywhere she pleased, without the looming reminder that nothing, not even her body, really belong to her. Not anymore.
She was becoming desperate. And being desperate made her crafty, in a sense. She simply needed to test the waters of her limitations.
Green eyes, soft yet always seeming to have that striking edge to them, did not look away from the man before her. “I simply wanted to know. It’s alright to talk about such things, isn’t it? As husband and wife. What is possible for the future.”

“I’m assuming you humans did this to yourselves.” It was the same story as with Krypton. Perhaps different events triggered the eventual collapse of each planet’s environment, however in the end, it remains the fault of the residing sentient population. Kryptonians brought about their own end, as will the humans. He feels no pity for them— he is not meant to fight for their home as he was for his own. “You all have killed your own world. Now you must deal with the consequences.”
There was truth laced within the star being’s blunt and rather hurtful words. Capable had heard much worse in her limited lifetime, yet the obvious blame made guilt wrap around her mind. She, of course, could not have caused the end of their world. It was before her time. Yet her people had. The human race. They’d destroyed everything, even themselves. “You say such cruel things to a race you don’t even know. Are you always like this? You must not be much fun at gatherings.”
