as a white person i apologize

As a black person, I say that you don’t need to apologize.

You should not be held accountable for what your ancestors did. They did bad things to people, but you didn’t. You also shouldn’t feel as though you aren’t allowed to have problems. Just because society leans toward favouring white people, doesn’t mean your life is perfect and stress free.

You don’t need to feel bad for being born the race you are. No one should.

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a post like this on this website.

Please, stop eating fish. The world’s stocks of seafood will have collapsed by 2048 at present rates of destruction by fishing. This means the ocean will be empty by 2048 if people don’t stop eating fish. The fishing industry is the biggest killer of animals in the world, more than 1 trillion fish die each year. Please ask yourself if your fish consumption is worth the total extinction of all marine life. Please stop eating fish and alert everyone you know what will happen if we don’t.

I love seeing posts like this circulating, getting big. I’m GLAD people are finally scared.

This is why fish breeding is so important. People will never stop eating them. But we can artificially speed up their replacement. Let’s try to be realistic here.

Don’t be stupid.  The issue with current consumption of seafood is not only that we are eating it at an unprecedented rate, but that the way in which it is harvested is unsustainable and kills off massive numbers of predators, like dolphins, whales, and sharks, as well as other animals that are not being harvested.  For more information on that, look at current commercial fishing practices.  Fish breeding, as it currently exists via fish farms, is destructive and unsustainable, as well.  The large amounts of waste produced by those fish leads to high amounts of toxins in the water, thereby destroying the habitat of numerous other species in and around those fisheries and hatcheries. You want to protect the oceans, rivers, lakes, and streams of the world?  Focus on changing HOW we get our food.  Support environmental legislation, organizations like Greenpeace, Surfrider Foundation, and others, that fight for that legislation, and tell your state and local representatives that you want to see action being taken to protect our oceans.

While I do not believe that the level of blatant cruelty and abuse currently targeting the Muslim population is on the same scale as that towards christians, especially when most of what you see is provided via a western lens, it is absolute bullshit for you to say that Christians are not the victims of cruelty for their faiths. I am NOT a bible-thumper, nor have I ever been, but while growing up, I experienced a lot of subtle antagonism towards myself and my friend, who happens to be Mormon. Slurs were not thrown our way as it seems to be happening to Muslims, but the isolation that we both experienced as a result of the two different sects of Christianity that we chose to follow were VERY real. You know what else is real? The attacks on Christians in places like India, China, and other Asian countries where it is NOT the dominant religion. The physical violence, murder, and outright hatred experienced by those people is VERY real. Next time, before you post something like that, you might want to take a moment to consider that not all of the world is exactly the same. Especially not as it appears to you through your probably-western lens. The world is a very diverse place, and your experiences are different than those of the people around you. So please, dear tumbler, shut your mouth.
