Dear Anon,
The kitties crouch down in the rice kettle, sit in it and stand on top of it [x]. I’ve seen kitties stand, sit, sleep or wash in the lacquered bowl - facing front, facing back. They sometimes sit on top of the cat cocoons rather than sleep inside them.
I think the cleaning and face-planting are random and whilst they occur more on certain items they can happen on all sorts of goodies.
