Right, so.

Friend pitches real hard to try out a levelup!a5e short campaign to try out the system and possibly phase out of old 5e.

My stupid brain is refusing to cooperate and muster even the slightest ideas for it. Time comes to start choosing a character and reading the actual rules, already knew wanted to do a mixed "heritage" with at least one orc half.

Friend says "I only have so many heritages in foundry, but have you considered spriggans?"

Tree people.

Ah, there's the excitement we wanted for the first take.

I'm now the proud player of a half-orc, half-spriggan levelup! character, her name is Mimosa, she has a luscious 'fro of mimosa flowers instead of hair, and patches of green, orcish skin peek out here and there under her tree-bark skin, in the fantasy equivalent of vitiligo.

She is, of course, a druid.

Her name’s Cynthia Rothrock and you’d better put some respect on it!

she’s part of the old guard of Hong Kong kung fu films where you had to be an honest to god martial artist to play the role correctly. when she started acting in American movies they had to keep telling her to not hit so hard lmao

love watching her sword very carefully and gracefully missing him

Cynthia Rothrock is also the inspiration for Sonya Blade and she started doing work in Hong Kong after Hollywood kept saying there was no room for female action stars.

Cynthia Rothrock is so bad ass and trained her body so much, she defies what a normal body is capable of doing. When she ripped her ACL she turned down the reconstructive therapy because of how much work she had. The doctors told her she wouldn’t be able to walk properly cause her kneecap wouldn’t be held in place anymore. Que their surprise when she walks out, but keeps working without any issues.

Turns out her quadriceps and hamstrings were so strong that they held her kneecap in place even WITHOUT HER ACL. She still hadn’t done so as of 2012 last reported

Let’s watch Cynthia and Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh kick some ass:

Mayhem: Why are you even here?! Risking your life, and for what?!

Amauris: Are you going to make me say it? [...] I love you, Mayhem.

Mayhem: [...] Then prove it. Kiss me like you missed me.

Gosh, this was such a cool, emotional scene. I'm a sucker for these two. 💕

This drawing totalled 37 layers.

Granted, six layers are for the background carpet/wall combo and they're very obviously royalty-free patterns that I just downloaded and pasted over my flat colours, but still.

30 layers just for the bodies, plus one Glow layer to simulate a chandelier somewhere overhead.

...worth it.

So, in our Curse of Strahd campaign we finally got to the point where Amauris makes contact with Mayhem in Castle Ravenloft.

Brief summary for those not in the know: I have two OCs, Mayhem and Amauris. Mayhem was my original player character for the very first CoS campaign, died brutally in a TPK, so I whipped up Amauris, and to give him a valid reason to be going to Barovia I decided he was in love with Mayhem and wanted to rescue them. The rest is history, and now these two are the d&d equivalent of Morticia and Gomez Addams. The very first campaign got discontinued because of various other players calling it quits, but we've rebooted the campaign with a different group and Mayhem as an NPC, and I am once more the dashing, gallant Amauris trying to rescue his love.

Last Sunday, we had them meet, sort of like in this scene, and it was all very great and emotional, and I just had to draw what Mayhem currently looks like.

Not gonna lie, I 100% understand Amauris. I too would cross the Planes for those doe eyes. 💕

I realized the wave mother robe was crying out for the romance novel cover treatment & was compelled. So here's some maximum cheese Astarion & Velli.

Featuring this fantastically fitting cover as the inspiration:
