still waiting for official confirmation of how low the punitive damages are capped in the state of texas (too fucking low, i've been hearing 750k per defendant) but i also know mark bankston has stated that he is going to fight any such cap to try to get the full amount, so
Apparently (source: NYT) the judge lifted the cap stating that it was proof that the system didn't trust juries. So he'll pay about $50millions. Such beautiful news, can't wait for the two others!!
afaik she said she disagreed with the cap, but i don't know that she has the authority to actually lift it. there's likely to be a lot more legal wrangling over the specifics of what jones will actually pay above the 4.1 million in damages, but it's still a huge win for the families.

Judge tells lawyer Mark Bankston that he is free to turn over to the Jan. 6 committee the Jones' texts and cellphone data that had been mistakenly revealed to him by opposing counsel
"I am not standing between you and Congress. That is not my job," judge says.
Bankston said he also will be filing a motion to sanction opposing counsel Andino Reynal. Judge says she'll schedule a hearing on it once received.

to simplify: churches are forbidden to promote specific political parties or candidates, in order to maintain tax-exempt status. no religious institution is allowed to make explicit political statements, including “this party is bad,” “this party is good,” “you should vote for x,” “you should not vote for x,” or “let’s raise money for x political party or campaign.” all of those things are super illegal! if they’re going to act as a political entity, they need to pay taxes like any other political entity! report their asses!!!!

y’all better hype this up because this is BIG and is evidence that the berlin patient wasn’t a fluke, and this could revolutionize medicine (there’s already cases of cancers where methods similar to these have worked), and while you’re at it, please join a bone marrow registry!! (especially poc bc these therapies usually only have been done on white patients due to genetic similarities, and the more poc we get in registries the more access poc patients can have to this for cancers, SSS, etc)
