Despite how horrible it had been in the first few days, how scared she had been, and still was to some extend, right now she couldn’t feel happier. There was a little baby’s life right here, that she had to protect so dearly - that she would protect with all of her being and she was certain Levi would do just the same.
The tears that rolled down her cheeks mirrored her best friend’s, they were representing how overwhelming this moment was. “She, or he, is perfect” Caroline whispered, her smile widening ever so slightly - if it grew to be any bigger her jaw would ache. “I want to know.” She decided. “I want to know what sort of little muffin is growing inside here.” She murmured, gently tapping her stomach.
But her train of thought was quickly lost by the words spoken by the one person that had stuck by her through everything; words she never imagined she would ever hear. Whilst he was going to be the father figure that her child, their child, needed, she believed he would fall in love with someone, that he couldn’t want to actually be with her. After all, no one else had ever fallen for her truly - Matt had proved that. Yet here he was, telling her that he loved her. And it wasn’t the friendly sort of love that she was used to either, and the kisses brushed against the back of her hand were to gentle for it to be anything other than pure love.
"I-I" She stuttered, lost for words in that moment. The doctor had gone quite, instead focusing on printing off images that they could take home, having already worked out what gender Caroline’s baby was. "I love you too. I always have, a-and I always will."
