We live in a digital era. There is no way around it. I am passionate about digital imaging, so...let the pixels flow!

So out of complete and utter boredom today I spent like 3 hours setting up and taking this shot...in my bedroom... :)

For the nerds out there - this was taken on a 5D Mark III with a Helios 44M 58mm f/2 soviet lens at ISO 100, F/2 and shutter speed of 1/200. The key light is a ring light I recently purchased (see my eyes?) and the rim light is a Canon 600EX-RT speedlite on a light stand with a blue gel at 1/64th of the power, shooting directly at the lens (them Helios lenses flare really nicely!). I tripped the flash using the Canon ST-E3-RT radio transmitter mounted on my 5D Mark III, while the ring light was on full continuous blast. Editing was done in Lightroom and then Photoshop, running on my monstrous Alienware 18 laptop.

I guess the difficult part of the shot was nailing the focus on myself. The 5D3 doesn’t have a flippy screen and I did not have a mirror or a field monitor handy to reference against, so I had to just focus on my hand at the right distance and then try to shove my face there as I trip the remote and hope I’m in focus. Some shots later I finally nailed the look and the focus I was looking for :)
