Not all muslims = not all men

Sure, comparing a group of people who have an extreme minority of people committing violence and who, in turn, have to deal with extreme violence against THEM despite having not done a violent thing to a group of privileged wank stains who cry when their systemic advantages are pointed out seems logistically sound.

It’s the same! It all comes crashing down!

Not all men: bullshit because every (cis) man benefits from misogyny bullshit because every man can do something against misogyny

Not all muslims: true because muslims are targets of ISIS just like everybody else is true because muslims can’t do anything against ISIS true because they’re just people living their lives with their very peaceful religion unrelated to what islamophobes and terrorists call “islam”

“Peaceful religion”

You mean the same “peaceful religion” where many of its adherents at best oppose LGBT and sometimes want them killed? The same “peaceful religion” that routinely murders girls and women in honor killings?

Please tell me more about how peaceful Islam is, I’m sure lots of people who suffered under it and don’t want anything to do with it (especially women) will be interested to listen you.

You know what else is peaceful? A cemetery.

Because who needs queer internationalism? Reductive, propagandistic rhetoric, homonationalism, and Orientalism is clearly where it’s at.

“Islamophobia“? Stop living in your bubble dude.

Yes, virulent hatred of Muslims is something I’m imagining. Because I’m living in a bubble. That checks out.

Please explain me why should I respect a religion that suggests to oppress and murder people like me for existing (and generally does it).

No one NEEDS you to respect the religion. It’s not about respecting a religion, it’s about respecting an oppressed group who gave extreme violence.

You have a whole blog dedicated to not fucking getting it.

There are lots of Muslim women who are happy to be Muslim women but no one wants to hear them, including you. Who seem happy to talk about them like they are puppets incapable of individual thought. Fuck your misogyny.

I could care less if you respect the religion — I care about propagandistic rhetoric that propagates bigotry toward Muslims.

But you clearly have internet access, you bill yourself as ‘someone who can think for themselves’, and people this openly and resolutely bigoted rarely have any interest in shifting their views unless they come to it themselves.

And frankly, I straight up don’t have the patience today to debate someone about where my faith, my family, and my community stand on my orientation, let alone detail hundreds of years’ worth of history that stand in stark contrast with your claims — thousands, if I were to touch on the pre-Islamic history of Muslim-majority regions.

Thoughts on the attack in Tehran?

Regarding cause, implications, ramifications? I do have plenty of thoughts on the matter, but I’ll hold onto them for now – at least until there’s a little more information. We have the stock ISIS claim, but frankly, that tells us absolutely nothing. Poke me again later, I’ll be happy (well, not happy, obviously, but entirely willing) to get into it.

I’m sure we’ll hear plenty of disgusting comments about rafidah dogs deserving this, blah blah blah Shi’a crescent, etc. from both the Wahhabi takfiri crowd and the non-Muslim takfiri crowd, though. That may already be well underway; I haven’t had a chance to look.

Please Don’t Support This

A trailer for a new movie starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen just came out, and we should all be mad.

This is a movie about murder on native american reservations, FRAMING THE ENTIRE STORY AROUND WHITE PEOPLE.

For context, this is actually a serious problem on reservations because the government does not give a single flying fuck and evil white men have figured out that native women are easy targets. 84% of native women report being the victims of violence, significantly higher than any other group in the country. 90% of the perpetrators are non-native. Reservation governments can’t try white people and the FBI refuses to, so the violent crime rates are much higher. Native women routinely go missing, and people in power do not give a damn.

So now they’re making a movie about it WHERE ALL THE NATIVE PEOPLE ARE BACKGROUND CHARACTERS IN THEIR OWN STORY. This is, of course, continuing the longstanding tradition of media and hollywood completely ignoring native people and giving even the few roles that should belong to them (Jacob Black in Twilight, Jacqueline White on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) go to white people, making it completely impossible for native people to tell their own stories, while white people make millions off of exploiting them.

tldr; White people have spent centuries murdering natives and trying to destroy native communities, which continues in horrifying ways today, and now another movie made by white people has just come out which will make millions of dollars from commodifying this violence.

PLEASE REBLOG. PLEASE DON’T GIVE MONEY TO THIS MOVIE. PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS NOT TO.

my birthday is June 30th. and let me just be honest here. my birthdays haven’t always been so great and right now i’m? idk

people tell me i’m a fantastic writer but the times that i’ve been published, performed, or been awarded for my writing are all linked to my dead name. i’m not out and i still live at home. i don’t want to continue my literary career using my dead name but if i don’t then i have 0 accomplishments attached to my name. i quit the full time job i had before in customer service bc every day multiple people would ask me if i was a man or a woman, and me knowing my calls were recorded i’d have to misgender myself daily which obviously had a big impact on my mental health. i work part-time now where i’m lucky enough to have some amazing coworkers who know i’m trans while our store manager is a transmisogynist and some of my coworkers treat gender as a joke.

on top of that, presenting on and off the way i do has really taken its toll on my mental health and sense of confidence. i don’t feel like i can really be myself 24/7 and i’ve gone from someone being very confident in herself to just feeling broken tbh. there are so many things i wanna do with my life that i just feel like i can’t do bc i’m in a massive amount of debt after college. which! i didn’t even want to go in the first place! i’m just very tired of living like this tbh. when i was 6 and knew in my head that i am a girl i obviously didn’t know this is how my life would turn out and it just sucks that something as simple as me being trans is so odd and somehow dangerous to everyone else that it makes providing for myself and just existing difficult. all i want to do is write and provide content for people and i’m often ridiculed for wanting compensation for all of that.

if you wanna help me out for my bday or whatever here are some links:

my shop to buy my writing: gumroad.com/teddywasnthere cash app: $teddywasnthere venmo: @teddywasnthere

if you want to help but can only use paypal just message. my paypal uses my dead name and you have to have proper legal documentation to correct that. i’ll still give it to you privately.

like i said the other day if everyone who follows me or reblogged my donation posts threw $1 my way it’d legitimately be life changing. any amount helps whether you think it’s minuscule or not. don’t feel obligated to donate either it isn’t a requirement or anything. this is just the way it is. if you read all of this thanks i guess. most ppl probably just see the donation links, hit reblog, and forget. anyways. i hope y'all have wonderful days

In one of the largest demonstrations in decades in Brazil’s capital of Brasilia, some 150,000 workers, farmers, youth and members of social organizations protested on May 24 the attack on Brazil’s social security programs and laws protecting workers. They demanded that unelected president Michel Temer get out, and his ouster be followed by direct elections for that office.

The mass response to ruling-class attacks continues to grow in Brazil. The ruling-class parties are all involved in a corruption scandal, and the economy is in free-fall. The possibility that this struggle will go far beyond replacing an individual — Temer — is a reality.

The May 24 protest was immediately met by an attack from police, who injured 49 people and killed one, using rubber bullets, tear and pepper gas, and clubs. People fought back, occupying some government buildings.

Israeli youth in America don’t want to hear anything about how Israel is problematic but I was suspended from school as a child because I came to school with a shirt that literally just said “Palestine” and had the flag on it and the reasoning was because like it was a “terrorist” organization. Palestinians literally can not exist without being told their existence is problematic and somehow everyone of us at any and every age is a terrorist. But no :( poor Becka don’t wanna hear about how the IDF is bad.

Emergency Days of Solidarity with Bolivarian Venezuela

June 2 - June 10, 2017

The International Action Center is calling for Emergency Days of Action to Stop U.S Intervention in Venezuela from June 1 - June 10, to defend the Bolivarian Revolution.

There is a growing danger of counter-revolution in Venezuela as the right-wing becomes ever bolder, egged on by Donald Trump. The sabotage, deaths and destabilization all evoke the dangers of Chile in 1973.

The Days of Action have been endorsed by a number of groups, including the Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle, BAYAN, International Concerned Family & Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal, International League of People’s Struggle, United National Antiwar Coalition, Workers World Party and many more.

Actions are taking place throughout the U.S. For details or to endorse, iacenter.org/4854/venez-days-of-action/

People should definitely know that boycotting this movie won’t solve anything, but it does mean standing up for what you believe in and it absolutely does hold significance for folks like me who are cash-poor and don’t have the luxury of boycotting corporations and folks that are pro-Israel and for the continuing massacre of Palestinians.
