The Palace Papers by Tina Brown review: 4/5 stars

This is my review of Tina Brown's book, The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor - the Truth and the Turmoil. I don't know if it's considered spoilers if the book is discussing headlines. But just in case - you have been warned about spoilers ahead.

I don’t know if it’s considered spoilers if the book is discussing headlines, but just in case you want to read it yourself without any knowledge on the content be warned: there are spoilers in this review. This book covers figures that are polarizing, so please try to keep comments respectful. I want this to be a place where we can share ideas without conversations devolving into name…

A quick update

This one is a quick update. It's going to be a busy week for me, but I'll make it somehow!

I didn’t forget to post! I got distracted. Yes, that is an admission. My whole Saturday went off the rails yesterday because I thought I had time to watch a 3 hour Natalie Lawyer Chick video on youtube, and then time slipped away from me and I had to still do my groceries. And there was the migraine. So how are my goals doing? I did not write anything, last week, but I did make progress on my…

Happy 2023!

First blog post of the year! Mostly updates on Reading goals and writing goals, but there are w few other life things in here as well.

We’re 7 days into 2023! I’m not going to jinx things and say “New Year, New Me”. Am I making more intentional decisions as we venture into this new year? Absolutely. The plan is to make a post every Saturday, with progress updates on writing goals and reading goals. There may also be some other things that get updated as well, but  Two days into the new year, I made the decision to add one…

2022 reflections, 2023 expectations

A look back at 2022, and writing and reading goals for 2023

2022 In Review Another year has come and gone, and it amazes me how fast time flew. Somehow between 6 day work weeks 2 separate Physical Therapy incidents and back to back vacations, this year has been one of the most creative-filled years of my life. I feel so fulfilled and satisfied, even if I didn’t reach all of my goals. So let’s first break down how 2022 went. In raw numbers, I wrote  5…

A short update

All of the reading updates you could possibly want.

So I figured I’d give a bit of an update on things. I haven’t written. It feels like every time I’ve opened up a writing project, I just sit there and stare at it. It’s probably post-nano exhaustion, and I’ll be ready to hit the ground running again, come January. I’ve mostly been listening to audio books, after splurging on Audible Premium after being offered a discount for four months. The…

National Novel Writing Month Summary

An overview on how NaNo went, and an update on my Quarter Million Words goal.

Looking back at November, it’s obvious I learned a lot of lessons from July Camp. Rather than trying to squeeze my physical therapy stretches in at the end of the day, I moved them to the beginning of the day, before I left for work. This achieved two things:1. It gave me the strength that I needed for work, and it held up through my physical therapy sessions2. It freed up that hour before going…

Where does time go? Preptober is upon us!

A full list of to-dos is on today's agenda. I'll be covering all of my goals for October for writing, sewing, reading, and reviewing.

For those of us in the National Novel Writing Month community, October is kind of a big deal. October, often called Preptober, refers to the preparation period before the big National Novel Writing Month event. It’s a time for last minute brainstorming, and for warming up the fingers so that when National Novel Writing Month arrives, our fingers are ready to fly furiously over keys.I myself got…

Camp NaNo Wrap Up.

Camp NaNo wrap up! The good, the bad. Lessons learned.

So Camp NaNo ended up being a mild disappointmen, but after my wrists went south, I had to be more realistic about what I was willing to push myself to do. The Original GoalThe Original goal was to do 50,000 words in 31 days. Ambitious, but doable given how I do NaNo on the regluar and normally come out winning. I actually had the advantage of having the extra day to write words, and I was on…

I have conquered.

Two years ago I began the process of trying to figure out how I was going to rescue old OneNote 2010 files. Today that journey ends, and I emerged victorious.

For background, back when I had to replace my windows laptop, I had not been using Microsoft Office for some time, which meant all of my OneNote notebooks were not synced to the cloud, which meant that all I had were .one files that were hosted on my local drive. Fast forward to the last year or two, when I’ve been trying to figure out how to access all of my OneNote files. I had tried almost…

So it's been awhile since I did anything on this blog that wasn't cross-posting. I don't know why I'm so shocked that Tumblr has gotten on the train of paying to not see ads.

Reflection

Today I reflect on this blog's history, my past experiences with blogging, and what my hopes are for the future.

Last post marked a big milestone in this blog! 100 posts! I hadn’t even kept track, but it’s amazing how time flies, hwat happens when you decide to stick to something. A Stroll down History Lane. It’s honestly wild to me that I started this blog, 100 posts ago, as part of a class assignment. Back when I was in college, I had to take an introduction to Professional Writing course. As part of…

Self Care Reminder

A brief update on how the last couple of weeks have been. Plus, a reminder that Self care is important.

I may have underestimated how bad my wrist situation was at the end of June. Does that mean I will likely not make my 50,000 word goal this month? Most likely, yes. There’s still chance to rebound, but after discovering that the department I had been temporarily transferred to was not as “light duty” as it should have been, I made the decision to go back to my old line. My wrist is slowly…

July Camp NaNoWriMo is just around the corner!

Time flies fast it seems! Here is a quick update on July Camp NaNoWriMo goals, and my Quarter Milwordy challenge

This is a little late given how early I tend to make these posts, but July Camp NaNoWriMo is just around the corner. In three days, to be precise. Where does time go? Well, it apparently goes by fast when you’re stuck working six days a week.It is not because of distraction, but life got in the way. I’ve been having to tend to my wrists after my tenosynovitis in my right wrist flared up again.…

First of May Update!

Time for the results of my month of fast and furious writing! I also talk about my plans for the next month. #amwriting #writing #update

I did not forget to update yesterday! In fact, yesterday was one of those rare busy Saturdays. I had a mandatory work shift, a massage, and then I wrote those last few satisfying words for the April session of Camp NaNoWriMo. I finished two days early, hitting 50,000 words on April 28! But I kept writing, because my Habitica app has now incentivized me to update everyday. There’s something…

Writing Weekend Update #3

A quick update on my writing goals. This week I include some graphs showing my progress. #amwriting #writing #writinggoals

I’m starting to feel a lot more confident about where my word goals are headed. I’m now a full day ahead on my Camp April goals, and on my Milwordy goal, I am steadily closing the gap. I am now only 12,303 words behind goal. If anyone ever says making up ground is impossible, I’m telling you, it’s absolutely possible if you have the determination to make it happen! Just to show you how proud I am…

Word count update!

It's another writing goals update!

Since I’m aiming for more accountability in achieving my goals, I figured I would kick things off by letting everyone know where everything has been going with my Milwordy goal, and my Camp NaNo goal for the month of April. First: Camp Nano.My goal for this month has been to do a traditional National Novel Writing Month Goal of 50,000 words. I’m doing a complete re-write of a novel I wrote 10…
