The best parts of having ferrets

  • Their little triangle mouths
  • Their little pointed noses
  • Their furry eyelids that make it look like their eyes are just a little line when they’re closed?!!
  • When one of them sticks their head up from the other side of the bed or something and just looks at me for a moment
  • When they let me boop their noses
  • When Beethovan (1 year, the good boy with gray fur) sees me coming to their cage and stands up or leans over so I can boop him through the bars
  • When Tchaikovsky (6 months, the good boy with dark brown fur) jumps up on my leg with his front legs outstretched like he’s trying to glomp me
  • When I turn Beethovan over to rub his belly and he flattens out and suddenly THERE’S SO MUCH BELLY OH MY GOD THERE’S SO MUCH BELLY TO RUB
  • When I tickle Tchaikovsky’s stomach and he grabs my fingers in his paws and opens his mouth like he’s laughing (note: open mouths are playful, and also if he’s not in the mood he just turns back over)
  • When they’re sleeping and the corners of their mouths are turned up and it looks like they have the most contented smile on their face
  • When they stick their tongues waaay out and then do the BIGGEST yawn
  • When they stretch and stick a leg in some ridiculous direction and fall back asleep
  • When Tchaikovsky throws one arm over his head or chest and falls back asleep so he looks like a fainting Victorian woman
  • When Beethovan sleeps in his shark bed and you can just see his head or tail
  • When Tchaikovsky starts to get out of his hammock and falls back asleep halfway down
  • When Beethovan’s tiny little teeth show while he’s sleeping
  • When Tchaikovsky’s tongue slips out while he’s sleeping so he does a blep
  • When they sleep curled up together
  • Basically every way they sleep
  • When they’re wearing their harnesses to go for a walk and they are So Handsome
  • When they make little clucking noises (aka dooking) when they play and it sounds like they’re talking to each other
  • When they do their war dance (the ferret happy dance) and start jumping all over the room
