i love to ask people this question because it really gives you a good look at what a person considers the most essential doctrines etc

if you had to pick only 3 books of the bible, which 3 are you keeping?

Is this the only three books of the Bible I can read, or the only 3 left in the world?

hmmmm i never thought about it like that, but i'm interested in your answers for both

1) Psalms, John's gospel, and Romans

2) Genesis, John's gospel, and Romans

John, Romans, Revelation

II couldn't get this out of my mind so I dug it back up. I think all the Gospels are the most precious books in existence, so my list would be:

Matthew, Luke, and John.

Not to give Mark the short shrift, but I have to pick three and his gospel shines the brightest in the context of the Torah.

I'm really confused by people picking Romans, which would be very difficult for future generations to understand without having Genesis around. (Who's this Abraham guy? What is "works of the law?") But it doesn't matter. I wouldn't throw out a single word Jesus said for all the Apostolic letters combined.

Without Matthew or Luke there is no virgin birth. With just John there are no parables. No Sermon on the Mount. Can we even have Christianity without the Beatitudes? But I would never leave out John either. John chapter 1 is one of the best literary achievements of human history.

...And now I realize that I have thought too much about something that was supposed to be silly. But I am posting it anyways.

I could swap Romans for Luke but Revelation stays

I would stick to the four gospels, but I agree with your assessment on Revelation, it’s very powerful stuff. I think some archbishop described it as sometimes the most beautiful imagery of God and sometimes the angry ranting of someone writing letters to the editor. My own favourite bit being 22:11.

I don’t remember this in the movie

TIL (thanks to A Masterpiece In Disarray) that David Lynch insisted on eating at Bob's Big Boy every day during the pre-production of Dune, and so the art department made him a Bob's Big Boy with a still suit on

Did you all hear about the restaurant that recently opened on the moon? Great food but no atmosphere.

Necrons

by Adrian Smith

Man, I remember when the Necrons got redesigned in 5e. Everyone I knew was bitching about it, saying Matt Ward was ruining 40K, and all that shit that was spewed out by the basic 1d4chan reader. But me? I got one look at this art, read a bit of the codex when it dropped, and knew GW struck gold with the redesign. It rocks. It made Necrons a thousand times cooler than they were. This is as the first piece of art I saw of their new style, and it had weight.

Yup. Newcrons beat oldcrons on every aspect. They somehow ended up being even MORE overpowered. And by extension they made the tyranids even MORE overpowered because the Silent King fears them. I got two favorite faction power overhauls for the price of one!

I love books, books are such a great medium because unlike films, video games and comics the author can really go into details you wouldn't normally consider, like John Rambo shoved pills up his ass.
