Off to London for a jobs fair tomorrow. Might as well, my sister's got a place down there so I don't have to schlep in a hostel and well, the second stage for emigrating to Canada is a lottery so who the fuck knows when I'll get picked just to be able to apply. Might as well get a job elsewhere in the meantime. Gotta pay bills innit

Still, my request is still out there. If anyone in Canada wants to look at my CV and suggest what to target over there I'd love to know - if you have a job offer from an in-demand sector it's worth a lot of points, enough to punt me forward in the queue

Got depressed at not having any more music in my iife due to having to cancel my Spotify account but frankly four, five months of joyless, noiseless living is beginning to wear me down - I went and spent some of my nothing in income on buying a couple of vinyls for God's sake (Elbow and Everything Everything, naturally. Couldn't find some Northern Soul albums though which is a shame)

Time to reacquaint myself then with something new from someone familiar, starting off with a classy blues number 'Get Gone" by Ndidi O. Now, where's my whisky tumblr?

It's finally time to reveal my piece for @palimpsestzine!

This was the first zine I ever participated in and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. A group of amazing and lovely artists coming together for a great project <3

You can tell Taylor Swift is straight because she's a talentless hack with no artistic voice. She's safe, she's sterile. Milquetoast whitebread heterosexual with golden retriever boyfriends and zero edge. She had to steal from black women to stay relevant and now that she's abandoned that schtick she's back to pushing the kind of music that gets played in gentrified coffee shops and the reception desks of puppy mills. She's the final boss of white women. She's the Homeowners Association of pop. She's the patron saint of cryogenically freezing your image for 20 years until your soul rots away into a Brand. She's the Henry Ford of girlboss feminism.

A decade ago I'd dismiss out of hand the idea of there being a major war that would necessitate my being conscripted or at the very least taking part in some sort of national service or civil militia. It's a grim sign of the times that not only is it being treated more seriously I myself am now resigned to the possibility that I'd be called up in my lifetime

Even if the stars align and I'm given the opportunity to emigrate I may well decide to willingly return anyway - disconcerting how resigned I am to the possiblity
