“Sorry Kalista my love. I couldn’t write. I couldn’t chance that someone could trace it back to me. Or that they would find you and pull me away from the mission to come rescue you and Kailynn.” He replied before it sunk in. “YOU WERE PREGNANT?!?! WE HAD A SON??!” The assassin was nearly ecstatic over the news and despite his freely bleeding shoulder, he hugged her close and comforted her. “I’m so very sorry that I couldn’t be here, that I missed you’re pregnancy with our son. But this mission couldn’t wait, it couldn’t be put aside.” He allowed her to help him up, and held her close to him, kissing her softly. “We’ll need to bandage my shoulder now, but I don’t mind. We have a son. A beautiful baby boy who probably looks just like you.” He said, before Kailynn came running out having heard her father’s voice.
“Daddy!!” She cried as she wrapped arms around his thigh and held on. “I missed you so much! I’ve got so much to tell you!” She exclaimed, hugging his thigh tight. His hand went down to her head and patted it. “Hi Kailynn my love. I missed you a lot.” He said, wanting to scoop her up, but couldn’t with that shoulder being injured.
“I will go get what we need to fix that shoulder. I know we have the right stuff.” Kalista smiled as she heard Kailynn come to the door to meet her father. There was so much she and Kailynn both had to tell Talon, but right now was not the time. What’s more, she wished to show him his son as well. She would grab him while she went to get the medical supplies. She had almost drowned out his cries while the ordeal at the front door went on.
“Stay put dear, or sit down. I will be right back.” She quickly pecked his cheek with a kiss, and walked quickly to the bathroom to go through a cabinet with all of the medical supplies she thought necessary.
Good, we do have what we need.
With what she needed in one hand, she dashed into their son’s room, picking him up from his crib and holding him very close. Returning to Talon and Kailynn, she set the medical supplies on the table so she could properly hold their son, Aki. Though very small, he had a lot of hair that was a very beautiful white and his eyes were as beautiful as the blood moon itself, just like his father’s.
“Talon, meet your son, Aki.” A gentle smile came to her face as she looked at her son and then to her husband who’s face she dearly missed. “He looks just like you.”
Talon nodded to his wife and moved into the living room with Kailynn in tow as he sat down on a stool, and removed his armor. Kalista’s spears had a great habit of not damaging armor, and merely piercing the person’s skin. He pulled up Kailynn, hugging her close and getting snuggles from his daughter. “We missed you daddy.” “I know my lovely little assassin. It’s been too long, and that was my fault. I should have been home so much sooner. Did you help momma with the baby boy while I was gone?” “Yes Daddy. Here, momma’s coming back!” She said excitedly, as she bounced up and down, her hands on Talon’s knee. He glanced up, his black beard shaggy and very much out of place on his visage.
His good arm came up, and pulled his son down to his chest. “Oh my, he’s perfect. My perfect little boy, my son.” He said, his eyes tearing up, and love filling his heart. “How perfect you are.” He whispered, before giving a short hiss of pain as Kalista tore his shirt open and checked the wound for any issues before she started to bandage it up. Once she finished up, he grabbed her hand, and pulled her down for a kiss. “Thank you so much for carrying this beautiful baby boy in you while I was gone. I’m so so so sorry that I wasn’t able to be here like I was for Kailynn. Please forgive me my love.” He said said against her lips.
