She wasn’t as observant as he was, but even she could tell that the events had taken a toll on the Sheriff as well. Of course they had. After all, He was the one on the frontline of all of this.

“I didn’t think it would be easy, and we still have a long way to go. I believe I’ve met with every Fable in the city in the past couple of days, and I still have more to meet with.” Snow sat back up, pulling out another piece of paper and looking over it before setting it aside again. “I imagine things are busy on the streets with every crook and low life wanting to take the Crooked Man’s place.”

Snow leaned forward on her desk, resting her head on her hands “Answer me honestly, what do you think our chances of successfully fixing Fabletown are?”

“ It’s not going to be easy. We have no idea for how long the Crooked Man had been doing this or how deep his connections ran, but we know for sure that Crane had always been a sniveling weasel.  “ Bigby pondered “ It might be part of some Fables’ nature to do certain things that might not be good for the community, it’s stronger than they are. There’s always the bad apples in every society, so it’s unlikely that we’ll get rid of them all. But it doesn’t means that I won’t try and hunt down every scoundrel I can find and bring to justice.”

That being said, the sheriff continued “ It will be very hard to change decades of corruption, and there are some changes that are beyond us…The members of this community need to change.” a very good example of this would be Beauty and Beast’s lifestyle. Or Prince Charming. Or many of the former royals really. “ But we are all Fables, we can adapt. We can survive a lot of things, this will be nothing compared to many things that most of us had faced.” grabbing his carton, Bigby played with it a bit before getting one cigarette “ And if there is one thing we got is time.”

“I suppose I just feel like the Crooked Man was a cause of Crane’s own actions, and his tight purse strings. I know our budget isn’t endless, but when Crane was in charge, my job was to basically turn people who needed assistance away....if it hadn’t been for that, nobody would have turned to Crooked Man.”

“It is true, there are members of the community who can’t change their old ways, and have had a hard time adjusting to being here but you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks.” She smiled softly at him, giving a small chuckle at her own joke. “Yes, we’ve certainly got plenty of that.”

Urgent request for help

Followers in the Seattle area: it is Wednesday, 4/22, and I am texting with a friend in Kirkland or thereabouts who is actively suicidal. He is trying to find a psydoc to treat his depression and anxiety but is not having any luck finding anyone taking new patients. I am trying to persuade him to get to the nearest ER because I don’t have an address to send 911 to, but in the meantime, if you know of any behavioral health intervention hotlines etc., please ping me ASAP so I can forward the info to him. Thanks.
