Day 3 - Favorite Character

I love KJ, I really do and, in some ways, she’s still sort of a role model. But I identify with her too much (more in terms of sharing the same inadequacies and flaws), which leads me to look for and admire people for whom overcoming said inadequacies is easy. Ch is a really great guy. He’s thoughtful, helpful, unselfish... He’s learned to overcome his own feelings of alienation and anger to become someone who’s accepting, and who has a sense of inner peace. He doesn’t judge, he doesn’t pressure, he thinks about others and their well-being... Anyway, he’s all kinds of perfect.

03.Favorite film: First Contact (1966)

Day 2 – favorite film

[Reblogging myself, because.] The TNG movies were pretty awesome, but First Contact (1996, not 1966) is my favorite for a couple of reasons. Badass!Crusher, Drunk!Troi, our E.M.H, the Borg, all that zero g EVA... I feel that the movies allowed stories that showed the crew in a more realistic and/or less “superhuman” setting. And this particular movie did bring them closer to us. No just home, but to a time when many of us will still be around. I know it sounds silly and idealistic... But it bought ST closer to us, to our reality. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we were only a few decades away from taking the first steps towards world peace, the cessation of hunger and exploitation, towards real equality?

(P.S. If the gifs are out of sync, I’d suggest waiting for them to load and then reloading the page. They work, I promise.)

Day 1 - Favorite episode (or scene from film)

TNG’s Attachment and VOY’s Resolutions immediately sprang to mind. However, I feel that Shattered (VOY, S07E10), complete with space anomaly and time travel, is a better example of how entertaining and satisfying a ST episode can be. You get to see the whole crew (strangers at that point) setting aside their differences and working together. I really wish it had been written as the series finale.

“Oberyn was ever the viper. Deadly, dangerous, unpredictable. No man dared tread on him. I was the grass. Pleasant, complaisant, sweet-smelling, swaying with every breeze. Who fears to walk upon the grass? But it is the grass that hides the viper from his enemies and shelters him until he strikes.”

Lesbian Lit Rec

Could you guys please recommend me some well-written lesbian novels?

Where are the lesbian Isherwoods and Capotes? I’m sorry to say I’ve only read poorly-written, somewhat flat novels of the genre, which I am sure can be attributed to my ignorance on the subject. Women are awesome, so there must be awesome lesbian authors out there.

Pretty please and thank you?
