george michael, who died seven years ago today, spent his life making private donations to organizations fighting AIDS, homelessness and poverty, including a donation to omwabini in west kenya that helped it grow to new heights. one story alleges he overheard a stranger in a cafe speaking of her debts and had a waitress give her a check he wrote for 25,000 pounds after he left. he anonymously volunteered at homeless shelters. he held a free concert for NHS nurses for his gratitude for his mothers' care during he battle with breast cancer. sali hughes stated that he once tipped a barmaid five thousand pounds to help with her debts. he facilitated a trip for 250 disabled and terminally ill children to take a holiday vacation to lapland. when doing press for his big album drop for "older," he gave the exclusive to big issue, a paper devoted to helping unhoused people make income. he donated thousands two two separate women who he saw on television trying to pay for IVF -- one of them found out she was pregnant the day he died. radio dj mick brown said george quietly donated 100,000 pounds every easter to Help a London Child to support poor children.

these are only a few of the charitable acts he did. he did many of these things anonymously, intentionally so. but the thing is when you do so many things that touch so many lives, they tend to outlive you long after you're gone. i think of him every Christmas, and i wish he was still with us. but i'm glad we had him at all.

my utopia has disability in it. my utopia includes free healthcare and no-questions welfare and state-funded carers. my utopia includes building requirements that centre disabled bodies — ramps and lifts and dimmer switches and braille signs. my utopia has disability in it. because without disability, it’s not much of a utopia at all

we have to give ourselves permission to imagine disabled futures. we’ve been told, either implicitly or explicitly that we shouldn’t exist, so it becomes hard to imagine a perfect world populated with people like us. but loving ourselves and our communities is about being able to imagine a future that has us in it. there is a perfect world where people are happily disabled. and that’s what I’m fighting for — the chance that we can slowly take steps towards that world. imagine disabled futures

hey, i didn't think i'd ever have to make a post like this but i had to take azula to the emergency room last night. my brother and his girlfriend bought a bouquet of flowers containing lilies, which are highly toxic to cats to the point of fatality. when i was at work they left them on the windowledge where az could access them, and when i got home she'd knocked them over onto the floor.

if she even ingested any of the water that was in the vase it could be fatal. she was in the hospital overnight, they have her on an iv and activated charcoal to hopefully decontaminate her system and i was told she'd have to remain on an iv at her usual vet for the next few days to ensure her kidneys don't fail.

i can cover the emergency room fees but i'm not sure how much her stay at the normal vet will cost - all i know is that it will probably be very expensive. anything you can send my way is highly appreciated, boosts are equally as appreciated <3

hometowns have a thousand little ghosts pushing through the pavement that trip you up wherever you go how are we meant to live like that

on my way out of my hometown i’m torn between: “i have too many ghosts here” and “i don’t have enough ghosts anywhere else”.. a haunting doesn’t always have to be bad. it can be a light in my childhood best friend’s window after she moved away seven years ago.. it can be the smell of lilacs in spring that just don’t smell the same in another state.. it can be seeing an old classmate’s parent in line at the grocery store and being given a hug. there are small joys in tripping over my ghosts. sometimes the ghosts love me as much as they hate me.. but either way they’re proof i’ve lived. i left a fingerprint on the world here. small as it might be..

Do you think Jesus ever got many carpenter requests after he started preaching? Like did anyone ever go up to him and be like; "My Lord! My Lord!" And the disciples are all: "The Master won't do anymore miracles today." But obviously Jesus is like; "Yes, my child?" And they just ask what his basic rate is to fix their door.

No one talks enough about the fact that Jesus had a day job.

He repaired the relationship between humanity and god, he also repaired the table in his friend Mary's house cuz it wobbled too much.

“Jesus!”

“How can I help you my child?”

“So the Chair I got from you and your dad is great, but I tripped over it and it broke, I was hoping you could fix it?”

“Go home and be at peace, your chair is fixed.”

“Lord, did you really just use a miracle to fix his chair?”

“Luke my son, it was still under warranty.”

“honey that guy who made our table got crucified”
