God sorry for taking so long anon!! I had a lot going on this past week and just haven’t had the time but here you go!

And of course, I had to write it for this moment because I hadn’t done it yet, so I hope you enjoy my version of what could have happened in an alternate reality lmao

16. “I’m going to kiss you now.”

Natsu didn’t know what to do.

He had never been good with expressing his emotions, not like Lucy. He was a ‘do now think later’ kind of guy, but he didn’t even know what he wanted to do at the moment.

Well, that’s not totally true. He knew what he wanted to do.

But Lucy was crying and thanking him and he didn’t really get why but at the same time all he wanted was to see her smile and wipe away the tears that were falling down her cheeks and onto his scarf. He looked up at Happy, hoping his friend would know what to do, but he looked just as surprised and confused as Natsu felt. Lucy cried more than he would consider normal, but these tears were different and he could feel the air changing. He wasn’t sure if that was a good thing. 

“Lucy…I wanna tell you something too,” he grabbed her by the arms, eyes taking in her tear stained face and how she seemed to be sparkling, hair mussed up from sleeping, and her doe eyes staring up at him in confusion, then to something different, something new.

“Wha-wait-” her eyes widened, almost as if she was scared of what she thought he was going to say, and she probably was–he was fucking terrified. 

“I-” he took a deep breath, seeing Happy fly out the window from the corner of his eye and he sent him a silent thank you, “I’m going to kiss you now. Is that okay?” he asked, fighting to keep heat from rising to his cheeks, see hers turn a bright shade of red and her mouth drop open slightly, forming a small ‘o’. 

She didn’t say anything, and for a moment he was afraid he had made a terrible mistake and fuck did he just ruin their friendship? He wanted to take it back, pretend it never happened and-

Lips.

Cracked and wet, but he didn’t care because they were hers, and he felt a jolt run through his body the moment hers met his. He smiled into the kiss at the taste of raspberry vodka that lingered from the night before, mixed with mint when she made him brush her teeth. To him, it was delicious. 

His hands moved to the nape of her neck and waist, pulling her flush against him as he responded to the kiss, lips moving gently against hers, lightly biting her bottom lip. 

She sighed, pulling away from him slowly. He opened his eyes to see hers still closed and a smile on her lips, and he wondered what she was thinking about. 

“C’mon,” he said softly, his hands grabbing her forearms and tugging gently, “let’s go.”

“Where are we going?” she asked, eyes now open but the smile only growing wider. He wiped away some remaining tears from her cheek with his thumb, giving her his best grin. 

“A job of course! Gotta make sure you pay your rent on time!”

The sound of her laugh made his heart fill with even more love for the girl in front of him. He couldn’t help but join her, not quite believing what just happened but much too happy to not celebrate.

Afterall, it’s not every day you get to kiss your soulmate for the first time.
