       “... Even Gods die... isn’t that true?”  

Unova had stabilized again, and under careful instruction of the Sages, the region had been revived to its golden age. Golden, as it should have been. Golden, as he once made it. 

He hadn’t told anyone about his own plans; no, he had no malicious intent-- this world had proven time and time again that he could not shape it to the degree he had wished. In the end, his control only reached so far. 

Instead, he had ventured to the mausoleum where Minerva’s body had been put to rest. He’d opened the door with an old array, and once inside, he sealed it again. 

Long ago, he remembered that his mother had told him about what he was. A Herald. Heralds were the demigods of the world, sent by Arceus to user in new eras. His era would never come; for once, he didn’t care. 

“Minerva... I’ve missed you so much...”        He could hear the hearts of Hydreigon and Absol outside the door, begging for him to stop this-- He never wished to put them through this pain, but the world would suffer should he remain-- 

               “I’ve waited to see you again... I was afraid and stupid... and I cost this world so much. I was a damn coward and I should’ve done this long ago. I should’ve come back to you, we should’ve lived and died together... I’m sorry.”

“But I’ll be home soon. Wait for me... Minerva...” 

A pause as he knelt by the silver likeness of his dead lover-- This was it; the world would be better this way. The ones he loved would move on; no sane human could love him forever. Not like this, not now. It was for the best-- 

                     “Zekrom... I choose the fate of humans... I choose the world beneath the ground... I choose to return to my beloved and to rest forever in her embrace. God of Lightning, I relinquish my powers as your Herald. I relinquish this life, and thus end your cycle. With this... Unova will be fine... It will be in good hands... Humans...” 

Jade hair turned a deathly white, pale skin seemed to turn to dust. Did it hurt? Yes. Did he care? No. This was his final wish; he’d always wanted to die by the side of a lover, and now- now he could be pulled to the world beneath the ground without any outside eyes watching. 

Even as his body seemed to rot away, he had too much pride to let any living creature see him like this. His solace was already waiting for him. 

Yes, Unova would be fine. There were Heroes of Legend that would protect it, and the Sages would take good care of it. His pokemon... He’d miss them, but in the end, it was too much. 

One beat, then two, then three, before his dragon’s heart went silent.

                       “I was a damn idiot... Living this life... trying to destroy them, when all along... they’ve made this life of mine... worthwhile.”

also, as much as I love everyone here, I’m having such an issue keeping up muse over in this fandom. I’ll most likely archive this blog; it’s been a wonderful run! I want to thank everyone for their support in the Herald theory, I couldn’t have gotten here without you all! Anyway, I may or may not return to Ghetsis, but until then, I’ll be over on @corrupted-knowledge! If you guys want, come find me there! I do have a pokemon AU !

G U Y S so today i realized that herald ghetsis is actually fuhrer king bradley like 

both are hella hard to kill both are probably older than they look ( probably means definitely ) both are hella boss swordsmen both keep one eye covered ( both do this due to an injury or to hide something ) and thanks to rosalanista‘s Scion headcanon 

both are the embodiment of WRATH

also admittedly, heralds were partially inspired by human based homunculi like bradley haha... look where that go t m eeee

Hoopa can have a herald, and is likely the only pokemon to have multiple heralds that exist in the same time period, due to the hoops ( they’d override herald reincarnation & avoid paradoxes ). 

Also, always feel free to mkae herald blogs! I’m honored that people still like the idea aha!
