'24.4.21 春日大社 砂ずりの藤

前回の続きです。5分咲きながらもこのぐらいの方が花はフレッシュでピチピチな感じがします。そんなわけで若い花を「砂ずりっぽい」アングルで撮ってみる。・・昔似たアングルで投稿したかもしれませんが、そこは定番・鉄板ということでw

I did chemistry at university. I spent a lot of my early adulthood standing by a Bunsen burner smelling of things I can't spell.

If you haven't spent much time around a Bunsen burner, it's like a steampunk candle you light with a bit of wood called a splint.

Or, in the case of one of my classmates, a bit of filter paper in a pair of tongs. Because the splints were too far away I think?

Anyway. You put out burning bits of wood or paper by blowing on them, you don't need someone with a chemistry degree to tell you that. Right?

Well this guy tried to put it out by putting it down on the bench.

This isn't some secret chemist trick, mind, if you put a burning piece of paper on the table what you have is a burning piece of paper which is now on the table.

He seemed irritated by this.

So he picked up the filter paper with his tongs, turned it over and put it back down.

Reader, he was disgruntled that the other side of the piece of paper was also on fire.

How do you think he responded to this?

That's right he turned it over again.

The information I've already given you about the other side of the piece of paper still held true. He wasn't pleased by this discovery.

So he turned it over again.

Eventually, after turning the paper over for long enough, it was extinguished through a process called "all the paper having burned away".

This man also has a chemistry degree now.

NASA Data Sonification: Black Hole Remix

In this sonification of Perseus. the sound waves astronomers previously identified were extracted and made audible for the first time. The sound waves were extracted outward from the center. (source)

No, thank you. I did not need to hear the souls of a universe calling to me from the afterlife.

Someone needs to make a space thriller/horror/whatever with this mixed into the music

why does it sound exactly like what it feels like a black hole should sound like

But wait, if you think that sounds terrifying:

The planet Saturn makes noise. The planet emits signals through plasma waves, which can be converted into sound.

So, in 2017, after recovering the Cassini spacecraft that literally fell through Saturn, scientists recovered the recordings the spacecraft made of the planet.

And you know what it sounds like?

I love how whenever ATLA recognizes Sokka is smart enough to solve a problem but it’d be too fast they just stick him in some kind of situation. Like he COULD’VE stopped jet from drowning a town so they tied him up and dumped him in a forest. He COULD’VE figured out what that spirits deal was so they lost him in the spirit world for 24 hours.
