“Got it,” he nodded. “What if the judge doesn’t think it’s enough? Does the other person know that someone is trying to get a restraining order against them?” That was his biggest fear.
“If the judge doesn’t approve then no restraining order. Although if you feel like you really need it then you can appeal and get a new judge. The other person will only find out if it goes through.”
“Whatever you say.” Ben sighed and pulled out his business card out of his pocket, handing it to her. “Tell your ‘friend’ to call me if they need any more help.”
She nods, taking the card and looking down at it. “Um. Thank you,” she then shoves it in her pocket. “You should probably get back to your busy or something.”
"Actually, I was about to head out for lunch. You can join me if you want."
“It’s fine.” Ben said with a small smile before putting his hands in his pockets. “Basically anyone that is getting abused or harassed. It just depends on the situation and the judge. A judge has to sign off on it.”
The teen nodded, taking in all the information. “So what? I- I mean, the person goes to the police to make a report or something?”
"Yep and the report gets sent to a judge and they decide whether if someone needs the order or not."

“I know what a detective is, sir. That’s great and all, but I’m not lying. So thank you for the information ‘bout the order. I’ll tell her to find a judge or something.“

“It all depends on how the adoption is set up. It would say in the paperwork if she is allowed to see you or not.”

"If she adopted you then she should have a copy."
Ben looked around before looking back at the girl. “You wanna know something?” He asked.
She was confused at his question, but nodded curiously anyways. “Uhm. Sure. What is it?”
