In this AU, there are two families— the Ichinomiya family and the Oh family.
Ichinomiya Family: They run casinos, night clubs, and hotels (and pretty much every entertainment establishment you can think of) as a front. They’re currently the most powerful family in terms of finance, territory and influence. Right now, they’re in an alliance with the Oh family.
Oh Family: They run waste management corporations and construction businesses as a front. They’re currently the most powerful family in terms of firepower and manpower. Right now, they’re in an alliance with the Ichinomiya family.
Eisuke: He’s the Boss of the Ichinomiya family, and he makes all theimportant decisions. He rose into position after he succeeded his adoptive father Akira, who took Eisuke in after his original family was murdered. He’s extremely wealthy, with a lot of resources to back him up. Everyone fears him because he’s known for being ruthless,cunning, and pragmatic. He’s also known as the King of the business world and a master negotiator.
Soryu: He’s the Boss of the Oh family, and, like Eisuke, whatever he says goes. Rumor has it that he rose into position after staging a coup d’état tooverthrow the former, corrupt boss, but no one dares to investigate. Everyone fears him, but they alsorespect him because he’s an honorable leader with a sense of justice. He wants theOh family to be legitimized, so he’s trying to reduce his involvement in shadier businesses(gambling, extortion, money-laundering) and move into more legal businesses.
Baba: He’s a Capo of the Ichinomiya family. He runs one of thefamily’s casinos as a front job (and often acts as a dealer there), but is actually very good atinformation-gathering and reconnaissance. He doesn’t like using guns because hethinks they don’t have “style.”
Ota: He was once a Soldier working under Baba, but waspromoted to Capo at a young age when Baba noticed his skill at delegation. He goeswith Eisuke and Shuichi during negotiations because his natural charisma is ahuge boon. He runs one of the family’s art galleries as a day job.
Mamoru: He was a former cop and now Capo of the Oh family.He was framed by one of his partners during his time as a cop, and now he’sdisillusioned by the police force. Soryu picked him up right after he was fired. He seems incompetent, but he can actually be a good leader when it counts. He knows the lawenforcement structure inside-out, and this helped the Oh family numerous times. He’s the best at interrogations.
Shuichi: He’s the Consigliere of the Ichinomiya family. He alsoserves as the family lawyer who takes care of all the legal affairs. Eisuke handpicked Shuichi because of hisintuition and talent in diplomacy. Still, Shu always butts heads with Eisuke because the latter is a risk-taker while Shuichi tries to minimize all forms of collateral damage.
Luke: He’s an Associate of both the Ichinomiya family and the Ohfamily. He’s in charge of all the black-market medical operations (like, say,treating injured soldiers after a turf war). He knew Soryu and Sisuke duringchildhood, and the three of them made a pact to make something of themselvesonce they grew up.
Hikaru: He’s an Associate of the Ichinomiya family. He’s a hitman-for-hire who’s responsible for many of the “mysterious disappearances” ofmembers from rival gangs. His loyalty truly lies with Shuichi, who took him inwhen Hikaru’s parents were killed.
Inui and Samejima: Both are Soldiers of the Oh family. They were bothtaken in when they were teenagers. Both are extremely loyal to their Boss andalways try to compete with each other (though Samejima’s more competent andlevelheaded than Inui). They’re always around to do the dirty work of theorganization.
MC: She’s the owner of Little Spade, a bar that many members of the mafia visit to trade intel. She and her bar were originally neutral ground and uninvolved with any of the families—until someone tried to assassinate one of her customers. She, despite notknowing who Eisuke really was, shielded him from a bullet meant to kill him. As a show ofthanks from the Ichinomiya family, they compensated her by funding therenovation of her bar. After that incident, she became an official Associateof the Ichinomiya family. She now keeps a pistol gifted to her from Eisuke behind the bar counter.
