Maybe this is all I can be.

Your name is Mukuro Ikusaba. At one time, you helped give the world despair. Then you brought it hope. These days...you blog and eat Doritos. [An independent Future Foundation Ikusaba rp blog, interactions will be assumed online unless discussed otherwise]

Jabberwock Island may be a prison, but it was a beautiful prison. Beautiful waters, warm, clean sand. Just enough wind to make sure that you weren't unpleasantly warm. It was a paradise of a prison, and Mukuro Ikusaba couldn't help but feel that this was certainly a step up from that windowless cell that she'd spent so much time in.

Sure enough, Mukuro had spent most of her time outside, trying to make up for lost time. Swimming, running, training. It had been a long time since she'd been able to take in as much sun as she wanted, as much activity as she wanted. And lord knew she needed to get back into shape.

It wasn't surprising that she'd gotten a tan, spending so much time outside. But there were more things than just the sun and the water that she appreciated. While it had taken some getting used to, and while they were still often on odd terms with each other, seeing her old friends was a nice change. The people who had also run with despair, had been taken in by her sister. But Mukuro had never felt that despair that had plagued them, and this set the group apart from her.

A gap with her classmates, and a gap with her old coworkers. Neither on one side, or the other. Always in that awkward middle ground.

At least there was one who usually understood her, who had always understood her when no one else seemed to.

She found her, having just finished a run. Outside, of course--Ikusaba wouldn't go inside if she could help it. And Ikusaba approaches the woman. She's not sure where they stood, but--It'd been so long, and Peko had always been there for her, since they met. Someone who couldn't fix her problems, but let her talk about them. Empathized with her.

"Hey, Peko...Was your run good?"

What a dumb thing to say. Shit. Shit. She was an idiot. That was idiotic. Fuck. So much for being cool.

Lavender bundled in a small plait that dangled behind her ear, nimble fingers swept it up into a higher ponytail. A simple task to keep her hands busy that didn’t involve doodling on the notepad in the inner pocket of her jacket or constantly adjust and re-adjusting the way her gloves fit around her hands. Many related fidgeting to nervous energy, fear of the unknown for the next new circumstance, released in small bursts of actions to settle an irregularly beating heart. Kirigiri Kyouko, however, was not one to get nervous like this. She simply related it to being bored, an attempt to rid herself of unnecessary practices she didn’t need for her next event or scenario.

After all, even she needed to compose herself occasionally, regardless of the next thing on her to-do list.

"Why are you visiting her, of all people?"      ”What if you get hurt? What if she corrupts you?”           “Is it really worth it? She did help Enoshima Junko…”

Trivial… Her current actions were as trivial as the statements she received previously. She only received looks of both astonishment and disbelief when she persisted, before a final acceptance and permission granted for her access into the other’s quarters. There were countless ideals she could relate that period of waiting and persistence, yet if asked, her mind would only force the imagery of a white, blank canvas. Suitably what she needed when she was to see the first despair remnant for the first time since their escape from the school she, and even Kyouko to an extent, barricaded them into.

A singular nod was given as the guard confirmed her permission was granted, opening the door ahead of her to enter once she hoisted herself up from her seat. An expression of indecipherable nonchalance took over to invigorate an atmosphere of professionalism, mainly towards the guard who would soon hold her captive as well. Once she entered, the door would be re-locked, and she would be stuck with Ikusaba Mukuro until they unlocked it once more. Undesirable for most, but for Kyouko… Perhaps that’s what both of them needed.

Violet orbs fell on the imagery of a short, black bob of hair, as well as dulled, blue eyes. She took a moment to scrutinise the surroundings and figure at an inconspicuous pace, mentally noting each thing she could see in her immediate perspective. The piles of junk all stacked in one corner as well as her plates, the ‘normal’ expression on the soldier’s expression and the worn-out computer chair she sat on were only a few things she noticed, unsurprising of a detective well-trained in her trade.

In an action of predetermined grace, she sat herself on the closest chair to her— Crossing one leg over the other to get comfortable. Her eyes pierced their stare into the other’s without malicious intent, waiting patiently for a reason not yet determined. It wasn’t until there was a full minute of silence that she did open her mouth, speaking with a tone that almost seemed as though the two of them had been friends for a time immeasurable.

"… Good evening, Ikusaba-san. How are you?"

Mukuro Ikusaba is usually not a person that is uncomfortable with silences. Sometimes she prefers it, to idle chatter. Often, in conversations, she would be the listener, and let the other one talk. However, even she was put off by the silence of the detective, who looked over her room with eyes that missed nothing. And it was almost embarrassing, being subjected to her scrutinizing gaze that picked up every gritty detail.

She shifted under this boring look, knowing that all of her bad habits and unhealthy lifestyle was being picked up by the keen detective. It just made the awkward silence even worse. Ikusaba wasn't sure what to do in this case, so she just to sit there, letting the silence sink in. Kirigiri would get around to her point eventually, she figured. If not...Well, it wasn't like Ikusaba had anything better to do.

When she speaks, Ikusaba is only surprised again. Her tone is warmer than Ikusaba would have estimated that either of them felt for the other. But the actual question is innocent enough, even if it doesn't answer Ikusaba's pressing question. Still--That's what normal people did. They chatted. They didn't cut to the bluntness. Even Naegi usually would chew the fat with her.

Normal people. Normal conversations. Ikusaba would do her best to accommodate.

"I'm doing well enough. I got my Hunter to level 27 in LOTRO, and now she's an expert jeweler. I hope to get to artisan within a week or two."

Normal people. Normal conversations. Ikusaba could do this.

It was as simple as that. The simple acceptance. There wasn’t much they needed— people could grow used to a hell of a lot of stuff. There were just a few things that people really needed to feel alive. And a quiet little dream was one of them. Didn’t even need to be fulfilled, no. Just the hope that it could happen. And it takes all the strength in the world not to break and hold her hand before they’ve moved away from the peering gaze of the soldiers on duty with them.

They weren’t necessarily an oppressive presence, but they were there, watching. And really, he thought as they walked off, further from the compound at a leisurely pace, chatting about the friends and the updates from the internet and sharing their interests and plans about their characters in LOTRO as they’d taken to playing together on hours he had off in his schedule, what would they do if he did just take her hand?

That’s when the rain started, and it started fiercely, suddenly, with little warning but a few initial drops before the torrent, and he gasped as the cold water splashed down on them, cleansing and cooling and washing away these worries just as she did for him. And he turned to her with a bright grin on his face as the umbrella popped open, one big enough. Bringing a few was a formality. They both knew they were only going to use one.

"S-sorry, haha— I should have seen that one coming, Mukuro. I think there’s a place just up ahead where we can duck into— unless it’s collapsed by now."

She continues walking along, content to stay like how they are, until they finally pass out of sight of the guards. She glances over at him as they talk about hunters, guardians, and the pros and cons of picking a tinkerer over a yeoman. He seems to want to say something, there's something about him. She glances over, but...

Then it rains.

She ducks under the umbrella that Naegi held, though it was really just to avoid the feeling of being rained on--She was already soaked through. She sighed, and took some of her shirt, wringing it out.

It occurs to her, quietly, that wearing her usual white button up shirt was a bad idea today.

She looks around, and nods, giving a small sigh as she ran her fingers through her hair, trying to not look quite as much as a drowned rat. This was going to be a good date, no matter what, no amount of rain would stop this.

"That sounds good to me, Makoto. If it's collapsed, we can figure...something out. There are other places."

the point is when someone tags it as drama that one side gets mad its labelled as such even if its just for the sake of the blacklists

i said in my tags that i didnt argue with tagging it for the sake of blacklists its people making all of the posts going "oh theres drama on my dash sigh!!" and just trivializing it as people just being dramatic and drama mongering

i understand if people dont want to see it but dont dismiss it

kend0ka answered: u should draw despair peko….

//Here she is in  all her glory

Uh yeah this is obviously not how I’d normally draw her, but I’d like to put extra emphasis on the that’s not how I normally draw her hair because now it’s all grown out and gross but normally it’d be shorter

otherwise I’m actually really happy with this. I meant to change a few things but I gotta get off soon so maybe I’ll work on it some more tomorrow?
