At a peaceful protest outside of Jack Trice Stadium in Iowa where Donald Trump was to make an appearance, a young Latino holds up a sign that reads: “Our lives end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Two white girls decide to walk through the crowd, and one unleashes her barbaric behavior and gets cheered. She should’ve got her fronts snatched that day.

Shelby Mueller, 20, from Des Moines Iowa, ripped Jovani Rubio’s sign. He’s a part of Students Against Bigotry—a group that organized to protest Trump and advocate for politically correct speech. 

“I knew if I were to react the way she wanted me to, I would only prove them right,“ Rubio said. “If she rips it in half, I’m going to put it back together and put it up.” Rubio said the supporters of Trump and the other visiting politicians also had questions for the protestors, such as do they pay taxes, were they born in America and can they speak? After Rubio taped the poster back together, he said a middle-aged woman wrote on the poster with a marker, telling Rubio afterward that her writing meant “I love Donald Trump.” (Source)

Back to Shelby Mueller. 

There’s an extended video to the whole incident. Shelby and her friend are on the side trying to figure out which protest groups are out there. Once they view a few signs against racism, Shelby plots with her friend: “Let’s grab it and we’ll rip it. A vote for Trump is a vote for white supremacy. Let’s go! Let’s go! I’m not fucking kidding you. I’m gonna take it down [laughs].” That’s when the scum bitches make their way into the peaceful crowd.

Iowa State claims Shelby is not a student. However this page - created last year - states explicitly that both she and her husband attend/attended ISU. Additionally, according to this web page and some research on LinkedIn, both her father Perry Butterbaugh and her mother Teresa Butterbaugh are both ISU alumni, making it hard to believe that she is not a student. Why would they lie about this? Why cover up for her?

and don’t let me get started on the fact that her mother works for Unilever, a multinational multimillion company who has been accused of racist marketing for years.

Stop trying to actively ruin the lives of people you have no actual direct connection to. The self-righteous justice of the social media mob isn’t really justice at all, it’s bloodthirstiness, and it’s a childish mindset that wants to pretend that we don’t ALL occupy the middle grey area of morality. I guarantee every single person that has reblogged this has thought or said or done something that, per your own standards, you should have lost your job for. But you were free to make mistakes and learn. If this girl loses her job, you know what that will teach her? It won’t teach her anything. It will teach her to hide her actual thoughts, not to actually change.

Seriously.

Let’s see … one is a book that endorses rape and violence against women. The other is 50 Shades.

Ephesians 5:33 “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. “

Colossians 3:18-19 “Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.”

Ephesians 5:22-25 “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

That last one is a little iffy on the submitting part, but aside from that I’m see a whole lot of the lord telling men to respect their wives(and that last one implies being willing to give his life for her)

A lot of what it says about women is also contextual with the times.  The church actually brought a lot more gender equality, but at the same time they had to deal with the fact that the repressed lives many women lived made them dependent, and unqualified for leadership positions.

There are so many freakin’ powerful women in the Bible too. If you think the Bible is against women then you’re not reading the right book. Ruth refused to abandon her mother-in-law and saved her family line. Rebekah’s cleverness helped Jacob win the better blessing from his father - she orchestrated everything. Freakin’ Rachel stole from her father’s house and got away with it (even though Jacob swore that whoever stole from Laban would be killed) because she freaking just sat on top of everything and was like “oh I’m on my period” so Laban didn’t make her get up and he never found the goods. Rahab’s (who wasn’t even a woman of God) kindness in allowing Joshua’s spies to escape (i.e. live) helped the Israelites conquer Jericho. And don’t even get me started on Esther. She saved all her people, basically reformed the government, and got away with straight-up breaking one of the king’s laws with no consequences. 

And these are just a few examples. God could’ve chosen to just plant Jesus on earth without being physically born - but he brought his son into the world through a woman whom he deemed holy enough to have the honor. The Bible is full of fantastic ladies - the poor and the royal alike! Are there women who make mistakes? Sure. But there’s plenty of men too. One of the key themes the Bible puts forth is that all people, regardless of gender, class, nationality, whatever, have the capacity in them for both good and evil, success and failure, independence and submission. (Also submission is not inherently a bad thing, our culture just puts a negative spin on it.) So yeah, no, the accusations you hear about women in the Bible are completely false.

Let’s just reel off a couple of names for people, just for fun. Bathsheba’s a fun one to bring up with anyone. Delilah, of Samson fame? Jezebel, literally called “the ruthless queen?” Judith? Miriam, the sister of Moses? For that matter, Tzipporah? And bringing in the Judges for a sec: Deborah anyone?

Also, let’s not forget the freaking BAMF that is Queen Esther. Ugh she’s great (and she’s got an entire book of the Bible all to herself). 

The bible definitely never condones abuse…. Like ever. Jesus commands us to love, so we must love!

Buzzfeed’s new video “I’m a Christian, But I’m Not…” is soooo cringeworthy. Not once do the people in the video ever mention Christ. The whole thing is about “don’t hate me for being a Christian, we’re totally nice!!” when being a Christian isn’t about whether or not people like us for our faith. It’s about Jesus.

I’m so sick and tired of this trendy fake Christianity that focuses way too much on people and works and not coming off as offensive, than Jesus Christ.

Stop compromising. Read the Bible. Point people to Jesus, the real Jesus.
