@sixofcrowsnet heist: backstory → → kaz brekker

Weakness was lethal in the Barrel. People could smell it on you like blood, and if Kaz was going to bring Pekka Rollins to his knees, he couldn’t afford any more nights trembling on a bathroom floor.

quaad snippet: kit and ty

“You hated the Shadow Market in London,” Kit said. “It really bothered you. The noises, and the crowd —“

Ty’s gaze flicked down to Kit. “I’ll wear my headphones. I’ll be all right.”

“…and I don’t know if we should go again so soon,” Kit added. “What if Helen and Aline get suspicious?”

Ty’s gaze darkened. “Julian told me once,” he said, “that when people keep coming up with reasons not do something, it’s because they don’t want to do it. Do you not want to do this?”

Ty’s voice sounded tight. The thrumming wire again, sharp with tension. Under the cotton of his shirt, his too-thin shoulders had tightened as well. The neck of his shirt was loose, the delicate line of his collarbones just visible.

Kit felt a rush of tenderness toward Ty, mixed with near-panic. In other circumstances, he thought, he would just have lied. But he couldn’t lie to Ty.

Manon Blackbeak - Throne of Glass

I just finished Queen of Shadows and all the feels. Had to draw my fave, Manon, the badass Ironteeth witch, whom I’m sure will fuck over anyone who tries to hurt her beloved witches again. And Elide. God I need her to reunite with Elide and make sweet love to her. And Abraxos is a cutie pie I want him safe and sound and smelling flowers forever.

There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it.

Roomies by Christina Lauren

5/5 stars

Official Synopsis:

Marriages of convenience are so… inconvenient.

Rescued by Calvin McLoughlin from a would-be subway attacker, Holland Bakker pays the brilliant musician back by pulling some of her errand-girl strings and getting him an audition with a big-time musical director. When the tryout goes better than even Holland could have imagined, Calvin is set for a great entry into Broadway—until he admits his student visa has expired and he’s in the country illegally.

Holland impulsively offers to wed the Irishman to keep him in New York, her growing infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves from awkward roommates to besotted lovers, Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway. In the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting, what will it take for Holland and Calvin to realise that they both stopped pretending a long time ago?

My thoughts:

I mean. Can these ladies really do any wrong? They are always an auto buy for me. I didnt even read the synopsis for this book until AFTER I had purchased it. And I gotta say, they didnt disappoint!

Aside from their YA books, I think this is probably the sweetest book that they have written to date. They consistently write the men of my dreams but they usually have a little bit more of a rough side. This was so syruply sweet, I couldnt get enough! It did have a slower start than usually but that gave the book a more authentic feel.

This may be my new favorite trope. The marriage of convenience, turned lovers, turned true love is just too much fun to read. I never wanted this book to end!

I am already awaiting my next CL read!
