Just wanted to say thank you for a great weekend at @odditiesandcuriositiesexpo! I got so much good feedback from customers on my queer + disability representation and complements on my painting! I only met 1 person who already followed me here, so it was great exposure. Hopefully over the rest of the year we will continue to grow and try new things (and finish my setup 😅) but I’m so thankful to the staff and everyone who made it not anxiety central for someone like me who suffers multiple health conditions and has just mostly gotten over agoraphobia!
I also had to get my compulsory frog plushie for surviving™️ and finally got a bag from LovePain&Stitches! All in all I’m happy and proud of myself for pushing through to be there. (And can we also get a petition in Pittsburgh going to open a Bibibop chain??? New Ohio comfort food 🥺)

But I suffered through the first episode of Fairy Ranmaru to come here today and tell you that it’s the weird juxtaposition of Madoka Magika but the witches are beautiful male fairies with a touch of JoJo art style (imagine gigachad fairies) and it was absolutely horrifying to endure. Who made this monstrosity? Can I have one supernatural anime that isn’t canonically gross?
(Im just trying to find something mindless to fall asleep too, but this would give me nightmares)

The update on things is that the housemate is financially flat-lined. If 'thoughts and prayers' were actual currency then I'd be covered for a decade's worth of rent by this point.
For those who don't know: the housemate has become mobility disabled due to a life-altering injury, and then there's the other medical conditions that took the opportunity to go "hiiii, we're heeeere!" They're in a care facility at this point--they've been there since the beginning of December 2023.
I cannot cover the rent on my own, in its entirety, because I do not pull in enough income to do so. I've depleted my tiny buffer and have no other resources. Family is unable to help any more than they already do. Being Autistic, and trying to handle all my Things while dealing with this on my own is making it very difficult to maintain what little 'cool-headedness' I've had in my day to day. I am drowning under the pressure and therapy and meds can only get me so far.
Folks, if you can, please boost or throw in on this, Ty's a dear friend who's been utterly screwed by the last couple years of life and roommate events, and definitely deserves the help.
On the other hand though, I also have hazy memories of just walking through wheat fields with my dog and my man at sunset and feeling like I was truly in some sort of straight person hallmark movie. Nothing wrong with the countryside and living slow, but that was legitimately the most unsafe, false relationship I have ever been in. And it really broke me to have to lose the vibrancy of those good memories. And my dog.
It really is a blessing 10+ years later to have a quiet relationship and a decaying body instead.
Probably one of the most heinous “past times” I ever witnessed when I lived in rural areas and apparently only hung out with the most vile kind of “redneck” men was a little something called critter beating. It’s the next level up from deer spotting. I won’t go into detail obviously, but since I was not in the driver seat and was alone with two men in the middle of the night I just had to sit in the truck and cry while it happened. Mind you I was under 21 at the time and incredibly naive about what (cishet, conservative) men find to be fun activities.
I sincerely hope this is not still a thing and that I just had the unfortunate luck to meet terrible people. It was certainly not the last time these two men did heinous things while I knew them.
