“Excitement level? On a scale of 1-10 it’s around a 14/15. Stepping into this role was like a glimmer of an inkling of a hope, so now that it’s actually coming to fruition, it’s very surreal but incredibly exciting. I am on the path of exploring who my ‘Jenna’ is. I mean I think that I got to meet her as I was writing the show: she’s a little scrappy, she’s a little disillusioned and she’s tender. How to embody that is new, for me. Following someone like Jessie Mueller is a great honour, I feel like I’ve learned so much from her and now to get to carry on the legacy of that role and support the show in a new way is a huge personal thrill. Broadway debut, hey!” - Sara Bareilles

Art Critic: the skull in the corner is artfully placed on the periphery of vision to symbolise the omnipresence of death, important thematically to the artist’s conception of life and mortality.

Actual Artist: aw shit, I got all this negative space, guess I’ll stick a skull there that looks pretty rad.

same but in theater we call that a ~dramatic pause~

Sara Bareilles will make her Broadway acting debut next week — joining the cast of Waitress, the hit 2016 musical whose score she composed — and PEOPLE has the exclusive first look at the 37-year-old singer in rehearsal. The “Brave” songstress will step into the lead role of pregnant pie-maker Jenna Hunterson for a limited 10-week run at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The role was made famous by Keri Russell in Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 movie of the same name, about a waitress in a small town who enters a pie contest in hopes of using the prize money to escape her unhappy marriage. In the photos, Bareilles can be seen cozying up to costar Chris Diamantopoulos—who also joins the cast on March 31. He takes the role of Dr. Pomatter, Jenna’s OB/GYN (and love interest).

*SLAMS THE SHIT OUT OF THE REBLOG BUTTON*

omg pls make this international / not just US-centric!

We won’t rest until every trans person on the planet has access to safe, affordable, and reliable health care.

Hey girls, this is SO important. Please spread, I’ve noticed a lot of trans girls following us. Its important. And how they’ve said, they want to make it worldwide, which would be awesome. I’m from Brazil, and even though the public health care “provides” the transition it’s such a bad work, involving years of waiting to get surgery or even the meds, plus the harassment coming even from the people who are supposed to help. But to be worldwide, it needs to be in us. So make your part in changing the world. Is not much work, and its appreciated. ~mod Chris who is rebloging a lot of stuff recently

Terrible Lessons You Learned from Musical Theatre

Hamilton: Don't fuck up. Ever. You will die.
Waitress: You know what's great? Adultery.
Chicago: Easiest way to fame and fortune? Murder.
Wicked: Only pretty people can overthrow the government.
Rent: Don't ever compromise in the slightest, especially if you're poor and dying.
Hunchback of Notre Dame: Nothing good will ever happen to you if you're physically disabled. But you'll sound great.
Heathers: The popular kids were right, you really should avoid the weirdos in high school.
Aladdin: Lie your way to a good relationship. Especially if she's rich. She'll get over it.
Book of Mormon: Blasphemy and fan-fiction are great for stabilizing war-torn parts of Africa.
School of Rock: Lie your way to a great career. Especially if your boss is hot. She'll get over it.
Something Rotten: Originality is dead, but that's hilarious.
Phantom of the Opera: Love never dies, and neither will this show.
Lion King: Julie Taymor did something right.
