Sister is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship.

I would love this to be my next hair style... Ive had micro braids and twists like these (all be it the twists were with my natural hair which was shoulder length). Now that I'm older and working, i wonder if I should he concerned with all this new appropriation of black culture. I dont want to mistakingly be accused as a culture vulture but I can shy away from the fact that I am of mixed heritage, although I know no full blooded white or black people in my family, were all colors and of irish and african american descent (with some great grands who were jewish and native american). I dont want to be seen as trying to be black but according to my upbringing and lineage breathing here in this earth is proof enough I'm black. But you know how it is- u dont want the loole and the trouble from people on the street or in the work place. But I'm def in love with this style and styles like these. I know I shouldn't care what people say or think but I'm just putting it out there. If taylor swift or j.lo showed up with havanas the black community would have their heads.

Take a look:

Just because something is within the law doesnt make it humane, doesnt make it a law that protects its citizenship. Maybe if it were young white men being gunned down, or your latino sons or even your immigrant male family member whose understanding of english was so so. Maybe under those circumstances so many of you would see the laws as unfit to serve its citizenship. Maybe then your hearts would cry out as you watch these injustices. Maybe race wouldnt matter if this countries foundation wasnt built and bled in racism, bigotry, prejudice. If after 400 years of brainwashing and destroying purposefully, strategically and methodically a whole race of people so they would never have power enough to be united, to grow strong amongst themselves. If you think you know american history think again. To be continued....

Going to get this short pixie cut this Friday.  No one can stop me.  I want my curly cues back.

I’ve had quite a lot of free time lately and churned out a design that I decided to make my second tattoo. The central piece is the seed of life, which is a geometrical figure that represents creation and connection. The rest was a bit of Khemr influenced; a reminder of my time here in Cambodia.

Anonymous asked:

how old are you? you never say. are you ashamed that you having accomplished anything?

Chile please, I’m the product of a pimp and a prostitute. I was sleeping in cars as I watched my mother go into motels with guys and unscrewing my fathers bedroom door in an attempt to get him to stop doing drugs. I was in 3 foster homes, was molested by 3 different men, lost my virginity to rape, and grew up eating my cereal from burnt spoons. The fact that I even made it out alive is an accomplishment against the odds.

I say ‘20-something’ because of people like you & your expectations of how successful, how single and how many kids someone should have by a certain age. You don’t get to decide success for me. I do.

I got a LOT of ‘asks’ about why I’ve decided not to tattoo the hands/necks/fingers/faces of my clients anymore, so rather than respond to each I’ll put a little something here. This is something I’ve been considering implementing for quite some time and a particularly negative experience the other...

The victim who is able to articulate the situation of the victim has ceased to be a victim: he or she has become a threat.

James Baldwin (via junkycosmonaut) because we are most empowered and most threatening when we understand EXACTLY what is happening to us and HOW. see: Toni Morrison: “Unspeakable Things Unspoken”; Audre Lorde: “On the Uses of Anger.” (via ghasedeh)

From long hair to short. Learning to not be afraid to come out of my shell every once and awhile and shake things up. Even with something as simple as a hair cut.
