Alejandra was raised in a cult led by Adam, the first human. Obsessed with erasing sin from the world, something that has haunted him for the past 10,000 years, he gathered up the strongest children he could find. When the time was right, he sent Alejandra, who had proven herself to be the most worthy despite her anger, to fake being mortally wounded when he knew the Ghost Rider would come along, and sure enough, he passed along the demon to her.

However, the power proved to be too much to control, resulting in an earthquake that destroyed half of Nicaragua, and after running from heroes for months (during which she met a similarly-gifted person named Roberto and forming a fast kinship), as part of his last mission, Clint Barton captured her and took her to the Raft, where just as she was becoming her own person, all of that progress was lost.

After Civil War, when Captain America freed his team from the Raft, Clint took mercy on Alejandra, who was quickly losing her grip on reality, and helped her escape, too. She learned Roberto was also taken, and she took a vow to bring him back.
