But I am seeing several reports on twitter suggesting that things are much, much worse than official sources in China are reporting and that they’re preventing the foreign press from reporting what’s actually happening.
Foreign press was literally shoving cameras into graves and crisis sites and hospitals with complete and utter lack of respect for the dead, all to get a sensationalist money shot of dead bodies, before being pushed away by family members of the deceased.
I know that “officials” gives them a good narrative and makes it sound like they’re the plucky reporter here to expose THE TRUTH!!! about brutal governments and backwards brown people, but you can literally tell from their clothing that they’re civilians. CNN is already being dragged on Weibo by Chinese netizens for their shitty behaviour, so maybe grow some respect and have the basic human decency not to pigeonhole every other news piece into FREEDOM OF SPEECH white bullshit.
Hospitals are already overcrowded and turning away minor injuries as it is, just so they can keep up with the more seriously injured victims, the last thing they need is a whitey with a huge fuck-off camera showing up and pissing away their time. This is a disaster area with a severe shortage of staff and time, and y’all the nerve to turn into an issue about ~~freedom of press~
