Sue Lyon photographed by Bert Stern for Lolita.

This is one of the photos that was considered too risqué to be used for publicity purposes.

No woman should have to be hairless to exist as a woman. No woman should have to shave any part of her body, even if she has a full beard, belly hair, thick arm hair, butt hair, idc. Yes, these traits occur in cis women of color, cis women with hormonal imbalances as well as intersex cis women. Yes, these traits occur in trans women, and are still female when they do. Growing body hair doesn’t make you male. Shaving body hair doesn’t make you female. All humans are hairy and we FUCKING need to stop defining gender with hair. It should be your choice, not your goddamn obligation. Women need to stop feeling bad about every part of their bodies that don’t fit in to the narrow box that society gave us.

Don’t derail with comments on how YOU like to shave or why this isn’t about you 🔪

Just to be clear, since I’ve seen at least one transphobe in the notes: transphobic people make being a woman with body hair dangerous. Transphobic “radical feminists” specifically have suicide baited me, have harassed me, have picked apart my appearance to prove that I’m “male”, have called me every transphobic slur in the universe and have made it so that, in reality, I, a cis woman who grows a beard and doesn’t shave it, cannot use the bathroom in public or use fitting rooms or changing rooms or safely be in women’s spaces despite being cis. Because I don’t shave.

So just to be clear, any fucking transphobe who interacts with this post in any way will be cursed. I’m sick to death of y’all and genuinely wish for misery to befall y’all. Get the fuck off my posts. Hope y’all all develop crotch rot or something I swear to god
