Last night was pretty sweaty and hot. Painting was a workout. Thank you so much to everyone who sent me good luck wishes and to the ones who came to sweat it out with me. I won a spot to the next round in September 12th! The theme was natural selection. I chose to paint two women with natural hair sitting on some grass looking out to the sky. The line that crosses both painting symbolizes a heart beat. Our choices in life and love. The colors I picked are neon because they aren’t commonly found in nature. I didn’t want to making something showing violence or a fierce competition, which is usually what people think of when you hear natural selection. So my natural selection was a pair of women. I was also inspired by the morena style paintings from the Dominican Republic. Got to meet Rainbow & Faith at their Pumpkinheads Book Signing tour tonight. Words escaped me and I couldn’t say all the things. It’s ok though because I left them some fanart and they took a photo with me. Both women’s works have really inspired me. I’ve followed Faith’s work since I was in high school and have met her before to get other books signed. Listening to them talk about how they worked on Pumpkinheads makes me really want to finish my own project. Never really think of myself as a fangirl but I guess I am. I’ve been wanting to cut my hair since I’ve started growing out my side shave. Instead of giving in to those feelings I decided to start working on this MH Howleen doll. She’s Claudeen’s little sister. These are the first few steps for me. 1. Take photo for “before” 2. Cut hair 3. Remove factory paint with 100% acetone 4. Pull hair out of head 5. Take photos during process 6. Wash head with warm soapy water And that is all for now. Want to order some doll hair for her instead of using yarn. Would also like to order some Mr.Super Clear IV Flat Spray and apoxy sculpt. I still want to cut my hair but this was very satisfying so I’ll hold off for a bit. Daily December Doodle - 12/14/2017 In LIC before kickboxing class. Got a ginger tea and sketching. Tired of feeling rushed and out of control. Taking this time before class has been nice. Finished he 45 day challenge with @ilkblic #ilovekickboxing feeling amazing. Kickboxing has been really great the last few months. I always leave the kickboxing studio feeling incredible and so happy. Even on days when I think nothing is going my way, I go to ilkbLIC and am greeted with a smile plus a super challenging workout. During this #45daykickboxingbodytransformationchallenge I’ve only lost five pounds BUT the tone in my muscles is starting to show, I can tackle stairs with a million grocery bags and skip down to the laundry a few blocks away without getting winded. It’s great seeing my hard work pay off. I’ve inspired my family members to be more conscious of their health. I’ve gone through a lot of obstacles while on this challenge and it’s really given me the motivation to take charge of my life in terms of fitness. I have so many new fitness goals to take on! Do a Spartan race, run a 5k, and get back into swimming just to name a few for 2018. Now to translate that into my everyday and artistic endeavors! I can honestly say, I really do love kickboxing.
