Ashley had no idea what to say to the salarian before her. She had read the personnel file on him that Shepard had on record, but that didn’t change the fact that she had no idea what to say to a scientist-warrior who both caused and cured the genophage, who had helped destroy the Collector base, and who used to perform musical theatre.

Finally, she settled with a simple, “Hi.”

Mordin was not, by nature, a social creature. Strange to think that about someone who never shut up, but what he had in words (and he had a lot of words) he lacked in actual social graces. Real conversation wasn't a strong suit of his.

"Lieutenant Commander Williams. Good to see you. At least-- presumably good. Could be bad news. Geth? Doubtful. Other alien uprising, perhaps? No, no, would have heard about it. Reaper resurgence? Unlikely--"

I never thought there would be a single person in this entire galaxy that could make Wrex feel uncomfortable, but you managed to do it. I must say I’m impressed Mordin.

Surprisingly common reaction to doctors among krogan. Even aggressive species have fear response. Glad Wrex didn't decide to respond as typical krogan-- headbutting in close quarters... unpleasant.

"Mordin." Shepard nodded to the salarian, knowing not to disturb him while he worked, but still letting him acknowledge the fact that she was there.

"Perhaps extending telomeres to lower Hayflick limit-- no, no, would cause rapid cell growth, tumors, non-viable option--" The salarian paused, glancing up at the visitor to his lab, though his hands never stopped working. "Shepard. How can I help?"

"Must you?"

Yes. Find it helps me concentrate. More concentration, more work. Better for everyone.
