Stiles’ real name and his possible connection to The Wild Hunt.

Initially, this post was supposed to be dedicated to Stiles’ name only, but as I went deeper into my research, I’ve come across some interesting facts about The Wild Hunt that sort of support my theory, so I’ll share my thoughts on those as well.

This theory is based on the following assumptions:

A. Stiles’ name starts with M, doesn’t end with ienim, is very hard to pronounce. He was named after his paternal grandfather, not Claudia’s father.

B. Will Wallace didn’t lie about Maciwoda not being Stiles’ name.

C. Most importantly, Stiles’ ancestors were Jewish.

In the recently released scene from 6x03 Sheriff Stilinski mentions that his father’s name is Elias (or Eliasz in Polish). This name originated from the Hebrew name Eliyahu meaning “my God is YAHWEH”. Eliyahu was a Hebrew prophet. This is what made me think that Stiles’ real name might be Polish-Jewish. Oh, and because of this: “Jews who converted to Christianity were given surnames such as Zieliński". Zielinski? Sounds a lot like Stilinski.

Knowing that Stiles’ name isn’t Polish translation of “mischief”, I’ve decided to translate this word into Hebrew instead and then use the English equivalent of Hebrew letters to form a name. Nothing made sense, so I tried a different approach.

These [x], [x], [x] articles explain the origins of Polish-Jewish given names and surnames, I won’t go too much into that. Here’s the part I focused on:

Parents normally choose from a long list of traditional names which may come from a Christian name (a Biblical name or a saint’s name) or a Slavic name of pre-Christian origin.

I looked into Biblical Hebrew names starting with M and here’s what I found:

Mattityahu (Mateusz or Maciej in Polish) means “gift of YAHWEH”. He was one of the twelve apostles. Malkiel (the Polish name Myloslaw sounds alike) means “my king is God” in Hebrew. This name is a cognate of Elimelech (which looks like it could be one of the forms of Eliyahu, and Stiles’ name is supposed to be related to his grandfather).

Now, the problem is that none of these names mean “mischief”. It was believed that Yahweh, or Jehovah, meant “God of mischief” at some point, but I’m pretty sure it turned out to be a transliteration mistake.

However, there’s one Polish nameMecimir or Męcimierzthat can be translated as “he who opresses peace”. Isn’t mischief something that causes annoyance, discomfort and harm or, in other words, disrupts the peace? Also, Mecimierz is certainly something that even I struggle to pronounce, I wonder what it looks like to native English speakers (:

There are some other names, such as Minogniew (”one whose anger is fresh”),  Mscibor (”revenge” + “battle”),  Mscigniew (”to avenge” + “anger”) and the popular choice Mieczyslaw (”sword” + “glory”), but they can hardly be interpreted as “mischief”, in my opinion.

As I was searching for possible names, I’ve come across some interesting quotes about The Wild Hunt which convinced me that my theory about Stiles having Jewish roots wasn’t totally crazy.

In the Norse pantheon the leader of the Hunt is Woden (Odin), who careered across the sky followed by his pack of hounds in full cry. What were they hunting? In Norse mythology anyone who crossed their path was fair game. He was liable to be snatched up and transported to a distant land, and he must never speak of his experiences, for even to mention the Huntsman meant death. When the Huntsman became identified with the Devil his prey consisted mainly of Jews, Infidels and Unbaptised Children, though other mortals who put themselves under his power by their own misdeeds could also be the quarry.

This article states that Hitler identified himself with Odin. If I’m right about the victims of The Wild Hunt, those two have surely got one thing in common. Another thing that bugs me is that we’ve been repeatedly reminded that the Nazi werewolf is a big part of S6. Moreover, Stiles’ grandfather presumably participated in World War II. Also, didn’t the victims of The Wild Hunt look like Jews so far?

I might be reading too much into all of this and Jeff will never go down that road, but, to quote Stiles Stilinski, YOU CAN’T TELL ME THIS IS JUST SOME SERIES OF IMPOSSIBLE COINCIDENCES.

I’m sorry if none of this makes sense, but I tried.mp3.

how do you think the word mischief relates to Stiles' first name? I've tried translating it into a bunch of languages, and all the slavic ones. But, none of them start with the letter M, except latin, which is malum.

I think that a literal translation of the word is too easy. I think it will be a clue in some way or another to the meaning of the name. I dont think itll be that deep because tw never is.

Am I the only one that thought we would find out that Lydia's grandma was one of the dread doctors? In episode 7, one of the DD's is shown putting it's helmet on and we see that there is a hole in the side of it's head. That's also the episode we see that Lydia's grandma preformed trepanation on herself. I thought it made sense, that she was one of the Doctor's, because we literally saw her with a hole in her head, before the DD were shown. Buuuuuut maybe I'm reading too much into it.

So I think that the mythology for season 6, or at least some of it, will be centered around the Wild Hunt, which Noshiko mentioned at the beginning of season 5. I’ll just point out a few reason why I think so. These are all from wiki.

The Wild Hunt is a European folk myth involving a ghostly or supernatural group of huntsmen passing in wild pursuit. The hunters may be either elves or fairies or the dead,[1] and the leader of the hunt is often a named figure associated with Woden[2] (or other reflections of the same god, such as Alemannic Wuodan in Wuotis Heer (“Wuodan’s Army”) ofCentral Switzerland, Swabia etc.), but may variously be a historical or legendary figure like Theodoric the Great, the Danish king Valdemar Atterdag, the Welsh psychopomp Gwyn ap Nudd, biblical figures such as Herod, Cain, Gabriel orthe Devil, or an unidentified lost soul or spirit either male or female.

This man is riding a horse in the s6 promo and one of the descriptions online about the rider in the wild hunt is

“In Älghult in Småland, it was safest to carry a piece of bread and a piece of steel when going to church and back during Yule. The reason was that if one met the rider with the broad-rimmed hat, one should throw the piece of steel in front of oneself, but if one met his dogs first, one should throw the pieces of bread instead.”

And it’s rumored that Stiles would go missing in some way.

People encountering the Hunt might also be abducted to the underworld or the fairy kingdom.[4] In some instances, it was also believed that people’s spirits could be pulled away during their sleep to join the cavalcade.
In MTV’s hit show Teen Wolf, Jordan Parrish is a Hellhound of the Wild Hunt.

There’s a lot more than this, but those are just some of the one’s that stuck out to me.

WELCOME TO MAGGIE’S META

A meta where I go way too deep into shit that’s not deep at all!

By now we have all seen this hellhole (pun NOT intended) of a puzzle, so I thought, You know what sounds fun? Skipping class to over analyze the FUCK out of it!

First thing’s first. This painting is VERY REMINISCENT OF EARLY CHRISTIAN ARTWORK. Can we please acknowledge that though there is a literal MOUND OF DEAD BODIES, but the darkness of the sky is opening up and there is a glimmer of light? The light, of course, most notably hitting Scott McCall, True Angel Alpha.

Let’s circle around the outside and end in the middle, just to make it as confusing as possible.

I warned you I’m going to be going waaaayyy too deep. Roscoe the Jeep. This fucking jeep, I swear. Notice the dog underneath? Possibly crushed by the wheels? Very reminiscent of Scott’s dog from the flashbacks. We know his dog was attacked. We also know Scott was attacked by Stiles. Both the dog and the jeep are almost over the hill. Over the hill…as in, the past? And of course, the jeep is in shambles. As is Stiles.

If we look at this grouping, we see the essence. His jeep, Oni fireflies, and the Nogitsune, all sandwiched in. If I were to over speculate, which I am, I would say the upside down figure could be representative of how Stiles’ ‘life-got-flipped-turned-upsided-down.’ But also, literally. He’s been upside-down in that jeep before. What’s the Nogitsune holding onto? A walker? (EDIT: Dylan just said, “Looks like part of a hospital bed.” Perhaps, an Eichen house hospital bed…?)

Is that the Argent logo on a sneaker? ft. Valack taking a nap

Okay. The body covered in warts/bugs/disease, reminds me of the scene in the 5b promo, where there’s red light, a pile of bodies, and these bug-like shadows crawling all over them. We also see a wolf (?) literally biting at a heel. To ‘nip at the heel’ has a negative connotation, meaning to closely follow someone/to catch up to them/to want to be better than. Could this wolf possibly be, say, a coyote?

Okay, this to me, is significant. We have a lacrosse stick. Yay lax bros. We have the Eichen sign, woo hoo. We have the Darach’s head on a stick, rad af tbh. But take a look at the crow picking the eyes out of that corpse. The crow has shown up before, in both Creatures of the Night and Parasomnia. It’s also shown up in Kitsune mythology. In Insatiable, Void tells Lydia the crow is a trickster. Crows also symbolize magic (Darach), destiny/creation ( “No such thing as fate,” / chimeras), personal transformation (werewolves, Lydia Martin’s new found abilities) alchemy and intelligence. Ravens, similar but different, are an ill omen, and symbolize second-sight or, the third eye. (Valack). Perhaps eating the “eyes” is symbolism for Valack’s lost sight.

Freaky af tbh. Wendigo and Oni?

WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS SAY. People are saying it’s the Bestiary. Makes sense. Looks like Latin to me, literally.

Stiles’ name. Why? No clue. But it’s conveniently sandwiched in between Eichen and the “Allison Argent” skeleton……………you get my drift? Now onto probs the most hurtful part of this whole puzzle.

People are saying this is Allison Argent, as she’s holding Allison’s locket. The dress is throwing me off, but I agree. @ Teen Wolf RUDE AF FUCKING FIGHT ME.

EDIT: (PERHAPS THE OLD STYLE DRESS IS NOT BECAUSE THIS IS ALLISON, BUT ALLISON’S ANCESTOR. THE LOCKET IS AN HEIRLOOM, AND LA BETE IS IN THIS SEASON).

Continuing further down, yellow wolfsbane. Here’s the TW wiki about it  “Yellow Wolfsbane was introduced in Season 4 and is described as very rare and very expensive. It was first seen in I. E. D. being reduced to liquid form and applied to a blade as a means of paralyzing a victim. A full flowering version of this species appears in Monstrous.”

An argent arrow. ft. a person who looks like they’re supposed to be significant but no one can tell who it is. See that symbol in the stone on the left? I’ll come back to that.

Continuing bottom left, we see Jordan Parrish’s keys/badge/whatever I don’t fucking care. The wolf with his eyes gouged out? I care. More “vision loss” symbolism.

Continuing bottom left, we see what looks like more pages of the Bestiary. I’ll remark on Lydia further below, but damn there are so many wolves? The one up top is next to Chris Argent… (someone help that guy put his sock back on, that’s gotta be annoying).

Okay, here we’re getting to the meat of the meta. ACTUAL CHARACTERS. Many things to look at here. A very happy/sleepy kanima…a broken baseball bat (more Stiles symbolism). Chris Argent holding a gun (makes me think of the new bts picture of Dylan with a similar looking gun…), the claws of Belasko, and some Skinwalkers (a new creature we’ll be introduced to in 5b), on the left.

Why is does my eye keep getting drawn to these two figures? Am I supposed to know them??

OKAY HERE WE GO LYDIA MARTIN. There is SO MUCH SIGNIFICANCE HERE. Lydia is on the slab of rock, draped in her Eichen robe, looking very Renaissance sacrificial. (Seriously, art history buffs, help me out here. I feel like her body language is almost taken directly from a famous painting). The figure behind her is in a skirt and cropped top. I feel like this is meant to be an echo of season 1 and 2 Lydia Martin. Lydia Martin is not that person anymore. She’s no longer hiding behind her looks.  We also see a drill (trepanation), and a black heart on the ground below her. Apparently a black heart  can symbolize being cold hearted (which goes back to my theory on the “old” Lydia Martin). It can also symbolize wickedness/evil, which goes well with the “LYDIA WILL HAVE A VOID STILES PATH IN 5B.”

A black heart can also represent grief, or sadness for a lost loved one. To further our Allydia pain, below Lydia looks like an opening. Idk why but this, along with the twisted metal bars, reminded me of Oak Creek. If it is Oak Creek, that might be why the body below her looks somewhat like Satomi Ito.  Also, when a painter wants to draw our eye, they direct the light. Why do you think it is that the light is falling on the two open palms below Lydia?

Moving onto Kira, i think we all reached the same conclusion. Kira is trying to conquer her fox spirit. But check out her open palm…..

Ahhhh, the main event. SCOTT MCCALL. HE IS CLIMBING OUT OF THE DEPTHS OF DEATH AND DESPAIR, AND REACHING FORWARD. Notice how he’s surrounded by backs that are turned to him? Kind of like how everyone turned their back on the best thing Beacon Hills has going for it. But also, More open palm. Lydia’s palm is open, Scott’s palm is open, Kira’s palm is open. BUT EVEN BIGGER, CHECK OUT KIRA AND SCOTT’S PALM GESTURES. They’re the same. But this is no random gesture. This gesture is shown throughout history in paintings of religious contexts. It’s the symbol of benediction, or blessing. It’s the hand gesture of Christ.  (Basically what I’m saying is Scott McCall is Jesus Christ but what else is new?)

OH HEY LIAM, NICE OPEN PALM. We also see Deaton, on whom a young wolf(?) is resting. (Symbolic of his nurturing of Scott?). Notice how Deaton’s hands are behind his back. His hands are tied, figuratively speaking. (And judging by the promos, it seems pretty literal as well). We also see moths, (Darach).

Now check this shit out. I have no fucking idea what this symbol means, but I googled seven-pointed star and got this: The heptagram was used in Christianity to symbolize the seven days of creation and became a traditional symbol for warding off evil. The heptagram is a symbol of perfection (or God) in many Christian religions. In Pagan religion, it is treated as a sacred symbol in various modern pagan and witchcraft traditions.

Now onto Stiles. Notice how his palms are both facing down? He’s the only pack member with a palm not facing up…. Donovan is behind Stiles. Stiles is running away from Donovan, but also, it looks like he’s running TO something. (LYDIA LYDIA LYDIA).  The Sheriff’s eyes are shut. No bueno. What is that on the Sheriff’s shoulder? The chord to his walkie-talkie? Also, that face behind Stiles with the black blood leaking out of it is reminiscent of Gerard Argent to me. (And we know now that he does come back). Is that a berserker mask?

Last but never least, Malia Tate. Palm up. She’s also being strangled by a half human/half beast woman. Her mother?   Look at how Malia’s shirt is riding up. It’s suggestive. Remember how Malia’s deadly sin was lust? JESUS WHO IS THAT BELOW MALIA?!  AND IF YOU’VE MADE IT THIS FAR, CONGRATULATIONS! What have we learned? Scott McCall represents Jesus Christ in Dante’s Inferno and Maggie has way too much time on her hands.

Okay, new update! It seems that the Latin text says : Damnatio Memoriae

Damnatio memoriae is the Latin phrase literally meaning “condemnation of memory” in the sense of a judgment that a person must not be remembered. It was a form of dishonor that could be passed by the Roman Senate upon traitors or others who brought discredit to the Roman State. The intent was to erase someone from history, a task somewhat easier in ancient times, when documentation was much sparser.

My hypothesis is that this is a reference to Theo, who has betrayed Scott. Or possibly even Stiles, who has broken Scott’s ‘No Kill Code.’ But mostly I’m still happy that the skeleton might not actually represent Allison Argent.

Another addition! Thanks so much to @rongasm, who pointed out that the woman who is strangling Malia has the Hebrew symbol “Chai” on her butt.

Image

Chai means “life,” which is fitting.

COULD IT ALSO MEAN THAT THE DESERT WOLF IS NOT, IN FACT, TRYING TO KILL MALIA?! Does she want her to live?! Also, another shout out to @itsalwayslydia, who told me the painting Lydia’s body language was reflecting is The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli!

The painting itself also has a lot of complex symbolism, so if you’re curious, Wikipedia that shiz. And if YOU have more to add, let me know! I love Teen Wolf theories!

Teen Wolf and Dante’s Inferno

So, as some commentator’s noted on my previous 5b Meta, the quote on the Eichen House plaque is very reminiscent of a line from Dante’s Inferno, specifically, what is inscribed on the gates of hell in Canto III: “Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here”.

…creepy. (Also I can’t believe I didn’t mention that similarity. Woops)

As I’m sure many of you have discovered, either through your own sleuthing or patiently waiting on social media for the full truth-and trailer-to be revealed, the 5b promos pictures are absolutely rife with Dante’s Inferno references. Actually, that’s literally what they are. And then the tagline that was revealed is “To Hell and Back”.

I took these frameless screengrabs from @notanotherteenwolfpodcast, but they have been reordered for reasons). This post is going to focus on what these pictures (in my opinion) mean.

#WhereisScottMcCall

For now, let’s get started on the pictures.

I took the time to reorder the pictures to reflect the order in which the images were meant to be found. Malia’s instagram handle was tagged in one of Lydia’s pictures, Deucalion was tagged in one of Malia’s pictures, etc. The order is important because severity of each of the “sins” labeled underneath the characters increase. The nine pictures are a walk down through the circles of hell where each of these sinners would reside.

O Muses, help me now.

Things of note:

1. This is ominous as fuck. “Providing for those without hope”? The fact that they made this sign presumably for a season with Lydia trapped inside doesn’t bode well at all.

2. Artemis is the name of the Greek Goddess (weird that they used it for a man’s name) of the Moon, Archery and the Hunt. Not surprising since this is Teen Wolf, after all. But it also bolsters my firm belief that the Wild Hunt is actually going to come thundering into Beacon Hills instead of just being name-dropped.

3. Hilda Ellis Davidson was a preeminent historian. Her specialties? Mythology and folklore, specifically German and Celtic Mythology. Her most significant thorough contributions are to the study Norse Mythology. I’m betting if we want to figure out who (or what) “La Bete” is, that’d be the place to look. My best guess would be Fenrir. (And John Posey plays Dr. Fenris, whom we saw in “A Novel Approach”.

4. 1912 was probably chosen as the year of establishment because Season 1 was set in 2012.

No. His name is polish. According to Jeff. The 'genim' thing is fanon and made up.

do you know if the blue talon guy from 5.01 was a sluagh? i feel like the sluagh myth has a big part of this season because of all the ravens(or crows??) like the ones on tracys roof and the feathers threw up and also the talon guy's stomach, and then that one bird the was flying outside eichen in 5.01. i know a fan played a sluagh in eichen last episode but i think the myth might play a bigger part of the whole season

No, he wasnt. He was a Chimera.

I agree, we havent seen the last of the sluagh.

After last night's episode I'm getting a slight "The Silence" from Doctor Who vibe with the Dread Doctors. Maybe have actually been there since 3b? And reading the book will trigger flashbacks to that time? Ugh the possibilities!

Avatar

Possibly. During isaacs ice bath in Deatons office sometime in s2 3 the lights flicker and Isaac says ‘they’re here/coming’ or something along those lines. We assumed in was about the alpha pack. Then in 3b during Stiles’ dream he gets up to close the door and says “they might come in” - who are they? The oni?

Anyone think there's any chance that Stiles is actually supernatural and heels he one that killed his mother? There's several reasons people have already stated on why he could be supernatural. Like maybe he accidentally killed her that's why she was saying "Hes trying to kill me" in his hallucination of her. And in season 2 when Lydia spiked he punch at her party with wolfsbane, he saw his dad saying"You killed your mother."

No. I think the simplest and most logical explanation is that his mother was sick and suffering from dementia which caused her to think and say things … which Stiles picked up on and maybe to an extent feels guilty hence the hallucination about his dad.

I'm currently convinced that Theo is possibly Peter's son, perhaps because he can transform into a big black wolf like Derek and Talia (and, possibly, most in the Hale line). But also because I'm wondering if Peter isn't behind the whole thing. He was sharing a cell with whatshisname, but where was he when Stiles and Lydia went there? He wants all the power, so if the experiments work, he could be beyond the rules of the supernatural world and have a warped version of it as a chimera.

I doubt they’re giving Peter another child.

Are there any theories about the possibility that Theo isn't really Theo, like Stiles said earlier in the season? Maybe he stole the real Theo's memories?

Definitely a possibility.
