the fact that Stardew Valley is a $15 indie game that came out almost a decade ago with zero microtransactions and is still receiving free DLC updates to this day is absolutely bonkers. There are $50-60 AAA games with paid DLC that have come out more recently and aren’t nearly as actively supported or updated.

actually i have further thoughts about anakin and shmi & its my belief that his attitude of burning any bridge if it keeps his loved one safe came from her. it's not that shmi taught him the wrong things, its that they were in such a shit situation it was unavoidable. she was the only person ever looking after him. if he messed up, which as a small child he probably did a time or two because come on, the only way shmi could have protected him from punishment would be to take the blame herself. so first lesson, when you love someone they depend on you entirely to defend them from an unquestionably hostile world. second lesson, love is shouldering any suffering so the person depending on you doesn't need to. like man. one can rib on obi-wan for not confronting all of anakin's issues head on when he was young enough that that was still an option but he sure had a tough job. the crux of it is that when youre a slave & lack any kind of autonomy, neutrality and emotional ambivalence arent actually going to read as neutral choices at all. like how is obi-wan going to teach him how to be a good person when obi-wan wouldn't have even helped him? clearly the default compass of moral goodness is still shmi, forever and ever. unfortunately shmi was also a powerless woman in a desperate situation and although anakin as an adult is by no means powerless nor as desperate as he thinks he needs to be, he still acts as if he was because in his own way he's as bound to shmi's fate as luke is to his

I've been spending some quality time on the Discworld lately. And upon re-reading some of the books about The Watch, I had to draw me some Lady Ramkin. No offence to the official illustrators, they're great artists and all, but I could never see what I see when I read when I look at any of the artwork out there. So I made my own.

I love the basic contrast set up in White Collar between Neal and Mozzie's style of conning.
