How to put “wrote fan-fiction” on your résumé:

Leveraged an inventory of established fictional character and setting elements to generate a disruptive custom-curated narrative entertainment asset.

I worked in HR, handling applications and interviews, and if someone turned in that string of techno babble nonsense, I would have rejected them out of hand.

A resume doesn’t need to sound fancy or overly technical, it needs to tell us why we should hire you.

“Independent novelist/writer” is more than sufficient here. If you want to express the skills that fan fiction taught you, something like, “creative writing, editing, and publication,” will get you a lot further than… Whatever that just was.

A resume should be tailored to the position, if you can afford the time and energy for that. But if not, then just think about what writing got fandom taught you. How to respond to criticism, how to present a professional pubic face, how to correct punished mistakes, creative thinking, project planning, persuasion via emotional leverage, html formatting, office suite fluency.

There are a lot of actual, marketable skills that go into fan fiction.

If you already purchase body products online, switching to purchase buying soaps, body oils, lotions, etc from Native elders who have been making natural body products for generations is really easy. I usually hop on Beyond Buckskin when I want to buy a gift for someone or myself, they have a Buy Native List directory here. I just bought three of my close friends (who all have just had a birthday or are having a birthday soon) soaps from here and here

grace was put on probation because of charges of assault and theft for “biting her mother’s finger and pulling her hair” and stealing another student’s mobile phone which she later returned. she expressed remorse at her actions multiple times afterwards and participated in therapy sessions and completely stayed out of trouble, her mother and teacher said that she was doing well at school despite the switch to online classes which caused her to become distracted due to her ADHD. she couldn’t keep up with her homework and her caseworker filed a violation of probabtion against her without bothering to learn about her disabilty or academic performance. the judge ellen brennan called her a “threat to the community”. all because she didn’t complete her fucking homework. she’s been in the juvenile detention centre for over a month now.

Those 18 states are: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.

If you live in one of these palces please go as many extra miles to stay safe as u can as new cases are growing significantly

If you live in any of these States, I advise using Johns Hopkins University of Medicine’s Coronavirus Resource Center to keep an eye on Critical Trends in your state (spiking infection rate, spiking death count) with the country and state map.

This is serious. We’re living a constitutional crisis with Americans being stripped of their rights by an authoritarian president. He’s supposed to lead our people not target them as enemies or terrorists.

Oh my god…

friendly reminder that native americans actually suffer more police brutality & police murders than any other ethnicity

friendly reminder that we got our right to vote after black ppl did

friendly reminder that up until the 19-fucking-90’s our women would have their tubes forcibly tied by doctors after they gave birth, as a way to get rid of us

Friendly reminder that most of our sacred sites have been polluted by mining, illegal dumping, or radiation. AND EVEN MORE OF THEM HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM US

friendly reminder that there is less than one percent of us left here.

Friendly reminder that even up here in Canada, there are mass amounts of First Nations women vanishing. Racism against natives is still alive and well. Residential schools were in operation until 1996.

This is not just an American problem.

i’m really glad that dwarvenqueen deactivated because as important as this topic is, it’s never appropriate to use black people as a bench mark for racial trauma. in fact doing so is immensely anti-black and erases the existence of black indigenous people. i want everyone who sees this post to keep that in mind.

i would also like to add that in Canada the marginalization of indigenous and black people is very closely linked. both groups have been subject to slave labour, police brutality, eugenics, environmental racism, and other legacies of settler colonialism. we do not need to oppose each other to fight for visibility, because there is a shared suffering here and canada’s violent colonial history is fully to blame.

If I could get money for groceries (I just need $100)this week it will help me a lot. Anything will help. I had a job interview last week on Tuesday but I haven’t heard back yet and i don’t have much money left since paying rent and putting gas. I do not receive any help whatsoever from my family even when I have asked in the past and it’s a burden I know. thank you everyone I know I ask for a lot and I’m really embarrassed to do this again. I’m hoping all of this passes and things get better again. Thank you.

This is all I have left to my name atm. Since April I have lost my job and I left my abusive house hold two weeks ago to stay with a relative but I need to pay her rent around the end of August. My unemployment hasn’t come yet and I’ve applied to so many places but nothing yet but I hope soon things will change and still haven’t had any real stability especially for my little sister. Anything really will help. I know I’ve done this a couple of times and feel extremely embarrassed but thank you anyways to those who have helped and wish everyone else good health and stability during these times since I know there are others doing way worse than me. Thank you again.

i’m not against vaping, but man, vaping two inches from my face on the subway is a ridiculous asshole kind of move. this dude was billowing like he was auditioning for the role of haunted house fog machine. the humidity in the whole car changed, he was ruining haircuts. just jump starting the water cycle. condensation was dripping down my glasses. people were slipping off poles, it was chaos. it was like watching one man try to terraform the moon. a planet with one dense, root beer scented atmosphere blocking out the sun and choking all life.

i consider this a sort of prose poem to be honest
