Just a 23 year old fangirl who dreams of working on SNL one day and posts about SNL cast members of present and past. I'm a lover, I'm a Hader (and a WiigHead, Admeyerer, FalPal, Fred Armisen fan, etc). I'm a Television Film Arts/Theatre double major at Buff State. That's it. Oh, I'm Karlyn

Not that I’m complaining but ‘bitchy girl who the main character used to compete with for the same man, but is now friends with realises she likes girls and gets a shorter hair cut’ is like the most weirdly specific trope for two shows on the same network to pull off at exactly the same time.

BUT BOY AM I HERE FOR IT

y’all: we want diversity and strong female characters in our tv shows me and like 10 other people: hey watch crazy ex-girlfriend! the main character is a mentally ill jewish woman, she’s in love with a non-stereotypical filipino man, her best friends are all complex women (and two of them are woc), and her boss is a bisexual man. besides that, it’s a musical, and it’s really funny. it’s just the perfect show so please don’t let the title turn you away! y’all on this hellsite: let’s watch riverdale, because two girls making out just to look hot is great representation!

You’re not watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, here’s why you should...

- Rachel Bloom the star is also the show’s creator and lead writer, she doesn’t just act but she has killer dance moves and sings in every episode. - The protagonist is a professional and intelligent lawyer and an unapologetic feminist. - There is a slightly overweight character but absolutely no fat jokes. In fact she is a great middle-aged mom trying to get into law school and no one comments on her weight. - There is a bisexual character that describes himself as such.  -The lead love interest is Filipino-American. -The main antagonist is a hispanic woman who is not presented as a stereotype. She is neither emotionally volatile nor a “cleaning lady”, she is a yoga instructor. - The show is extremely well written and directed. - The musical numbers are flawless and hilarious. - Zero token characters. -It’s really REALLY funny.

Reasons you should watch Crazy Ex Girlfriend

  • It’s fucking hilarious
  • It’s a musical and all the songs are original and catchy as fuck
  • The majority of the cast of people of color
  • Amazing LGBT representation (here’s a song about being bi that shuts down but stereotypes https://youtu.be/YUDab9piv_U)
  • The main character is Jewish and her culture is recognized
  • Despite its name it actually has incredible mental illness representation including the best portrayal of bpd I’ve ever seen in media
  • Had a married mother get an abortion because it wasn’t the right time for her to be pregnant completely normalizing any woman getting an abortion for any reason because it’s her choice
  • Did I mention how hilarious it is??
  • Took the “women fighting women” trope kicked it in the ass, turned it around, and made it gay
  • It has explained women’s anatomy in funny but informative ways
  • It’s literally so funny, the music is great, the characters are relatable, and it touches on important issues in a light-hearted way that doesn’t down play their importance
  • It’s on Netflix!!

Anyway please watch crazy ex girlfriend
