Ooh boy that pisses me off, if it was me I would have grabbed the nearest blunt object and proceed to beat her until she gains enough Brian cells to realize MAYBE she's doing something wrong, PLEASE keep trying to help him and PLEASE keep updating about him.

I'm moving in a couple days, so I'll ask her one more time if we can take him but quite frankly we don't really have the space or money to set up another betta tank. I will totally do it and budget around it if she says yes but I have a strong feeling she won't let me take him. I feel horrible about it and I wish I could just save him.

Whatever happened to Reggie the Betta Fish?

His owner demanded him back saying she was going to get him a filter. She got him an aerator instead claiming it was the same thing (she doesn't even have it running), his tank is getting green again, he's still being neglected, and she won't let me do anything about it because she doesn't care about him but insists that he's her fish and won't let me help.

Bonk has a heart murmur that some how went undetected at the humane society so they refuse to help with the cost. Pet insurance doesn’t cover it cause it’s a pre existing condition.

He just came home yesterday, we knew he had the eye problem and are working toward fixing that (also not covered by the humane society).

The initial x ray and ultrasound is 350$ altogether and that’s just to verify it is in fact a stage 5 murmur and what can be done to keep it under control. All proceeds from this fundraiser are strictly for Bonk’s heart murmur related vet fees and will not be used toward anything else. His appointment for the x ray and ultrasound are next week! Please help if you can, every dollar helps. If you can’t donate right now, I completely understand but please consider reblogging this and tagging it as well so it gets as much attention as possible.

Please donate if you can! We’ve only received on donation so far, I know we can do it! Please help us!

Two donations so far and lots of shares! Keep sharing and donating please! Every dollar helps! Bonk and I will appreciate every donation, I can give shoutouts if you like for people who donate, I don't have that many followers (300+) but if that's what it'll take then let me know if you donate and want a shoutout! Please help if you can!

So I have Elvis's temporary tub pretty well set up. For those who don't know, Elvis is a baby hamster whom I'll be receiving tonight. With us moving cities soon, I wanted something temporary and light weight that could easily be moved whenever possible. So I have her set up in a sterilite tub, it's not as deep as I'd like, but I managed to get in a good 8ish+ inches of substrate. She'll only be in this for maybe a month as we move and settle in to our new apartment where I'll be setting her up into something better/permanent. She's got her wheel (suitable size, closed back and surface, her compartment hide, and some toys. I have chinchilla sand on it's way (should be here in two days). She's pretty set right now, definitely not my ideal hammy set up but it'll do for the moment. Just a psa: Elvis was known before Bonk. If I had known about Bonk's health issues before Elvis, I would not be getting Elvis. All my animals receive the best care they need to thrive. I just don't have 300$ on hand at the moment (because of moving) to pay for x rays and ultrasounds. I can't wait for things to be settled again. I'm literally going to have money in like three weeks and be able to live comfortable again. I hate moving

I went to the vet today! But it wasn’t very fun, for me or mom.

We went to get a prescription filled for my eye, and while doing so we were told that I have a stage 5 heart murmur that the humane society never told mom about. I also need another medication for my eye, and was down a booster that I should’ve gotten 4 weeks ago.

Let’s cover things in pieces:

1. My eye: It’s pretty upset right now, my eyelid was inverted toward my eye for a very long time which caused a lot of problems. We don’t know how long it’s been this way, but we know the humane society fixed it with surgery before I went home. Now it’s still having problems with irritation and infection. I’m on an eye cream right now to treat bacterial infections and they had to specially order a viral treatment which I’ll get in a couple days. I have to take both medications and then go from there to see how permanently damaged my eye is and see if it needs any further work.

2. My heart: So I have a stage 5 heart murmur. Which is pretty bad. They rate the different stages of murmurs out of 6 which means I’m one step away from the worst. I’m not showing symptoms of heart disease which is really good! But my vet wants to do an ultrasound and/or an x ray to determine how my heart is working and why it’s murmur is as bad as it is. We’ll have to go from there to determine possible treatments. The vet said I should be going every six months to get my heart checked and make sure nothing is getting worse and that everything is working as best as it can.

End result:

Mom’s pretty upset that the humane society failed to notify her about my murmur. It’s pretty noticeable considering it’s a stage 5 so she’s not sure why they failed to mention anything about it. The ultrasound and x ray are looking to come out at 300$+ and make require further testing or treatments. My eye medications cost 90$ today, plus the booster that the humane society failed to give me.

Some people are saying that mom should take me back to the humane society and get a refund. Mom says that I’m hers now no matter what problems I bring to the table. She says she loves me unconditionally and as upset as she is about the horrible communication on the humane society’s part, she is taking full responsibility for my care and insists that I get the best care possible for my heart and eye.

My sweet boy has more problems than we expected! We’re looking into the 6 weeks of free vet insurance given by the humane society to see if it covers the fees of the ultrasound and x ray. If it doesn’t cover it though I may need to start a youcaring or gofundme to help with Bonk’s medical bills. I’m a little distraught over the miscommunication (aka no communication) on the humane society’s part and I will be talking to them about it at a later date once this is figured out.

I’m hooome!

I like it here a lot. I’ve explored all the places, I got dusty behind the washing machine and I found a cool place in the closet that I took a nap in.

I also showed mom how I know how to open cupboard doors. I love catnip, and I don’t like the star shapes in the party mix treats. I don’t like the chirping noise the one mouse made but mom made it stop so I like it now.

I’m super friendly and I love pets and cuddles. I don’t fuss when picked up and I’m very inquisitive and smart. Mom says I’m a trouble maker, but I just like to know where everything is all the time. No closed doors for me please.

My son is home!

Hermit Update!

I get two little guys as that's all the pet store had available. I figured I'd take both home cause they're pretty puny and Phoebe is large so I'm hoping that they don't fight or do much to each other. It's the only place I know of who sell hermit crabs in my region. I named them Boo and Shy Guy. Here's hoping they settle in well.

Sorry for the crap internal photo but this is what I've done on a short notice. She needs a bigger tank but we're moving right now and all the free tanks are in storage so we can't upgrade her until we move (September 1st). But I went out and bought soil for her so I could give her more digging space. She's only got fresh water right now but I let her sit in salt water earlier and will continue to give her salt water baths until we get her into a bigger tank. I'm hopefully getting a second crab tomorrow so she's not alone anymore. Our house has a fruit fly problem at the moment so the flies are going nuts at the availability of greens in her tank. But she seems pretty content with the care so far. Definitely can do better and will do better once we move but for now I think she'll be okay.

So a couple months back I thought my hermit crabs had died. I knew Chandler was dead as he died shortly after I took him home. I knew Joey died because I found his body, and I thought Phoebe had died because I never found her; I figured she had died and decomposed and I stopped checking the tank because she was nowhere to be found.

Fast forward to now, my boyfriend and I are cleaning upstairs where their tub was that we never really emptied or cleaned because we’re lazy and it wasn’t affecting anything. He looks and me and goes “I thought you said the crabs were dead?” And I agreed and said that they were. He pulls out Phoebe still completely alive. The little lady somehow managed to avoid my searches, make me think she had died, and somehow survived months of absolutely no care. Legit no water, food, upkeep, or even heat.

I feel absolutely horrid for not finding her originally and honestly thought she was dead. Until now. So I’ve set up a ten gallon tank for her as the tub they were in was absolutely disgusting. She needs deeper substrate but she’s got a decent amount for the moment. And I need to get her a buddy as Joey and Chandler are gone so it’s just her.

I didn’t think I’d be getting into hermit crabs again after they died. They weren't my favourite pet to keep, but I think after months of unknown neglect; Phoebe deserves the utmost best care possible as the miracle crab she is.

She was so hungry, the moment I saw her we got her a dish of fresh veg and some dried hermit crab food (a mix of proteins ie. bloodworms, plankton, pollock, shrimp, swai, tilapia, and whiting) with some egg shell powder on top of that and some hermit crab treats. She went to town as she’s hardly eaten in months.

I feel so absolutely horrible about neglecting her like that. I didn’t know she was alive and hopefully she recovers well. Updates to follow after I get her a hermit buddy later this week.
