This feels a bit like leaving a black box recording

I wish I could still properly access my Tumblr account because an enormous chunk of my high school and college days are emotionally chronicled on this blog and I'd hate to see it go. That being said, I've started writing again and you can find my new blog at tigerthelion.blog which is certainly a domain name I paid for while still under the influence of New Year Resolution hysteria. My first post is about - you guessed it - The Tragically Hip and Gord Downie. It would be crazy to see some of my old followers (I mean it, y'all are old, some of you have been following me since 2010) dropped in on the new space. Also if anyone knows anybody at Tumblr who can help me get back into this Tumblr which is registered under my old, defunct Yahoo email account, that would be rad too.

Anyway quick update: Last weekend was my 4th consecutive MAGfest and I'm pretty sure I was drunk for the whole thing. I had an amazing time with friends, and met some new friends too. Perhaps when I was loosing my mind at the midnight Super Soul Brothers show (~_~;) Now I'm sad that mag is over and I'm back at work...

Tumblr only works on my super old iPad 2! Which is why I never post and I only post text posts! I have to reset my password because apparently that's a thing tumblr wants people to do. But the email the reset link gets sent to is one I no longer use. And I don't have the password for that either... I will find a way

i hate having a dope idea for a chiptune beat and then

opening an LSDJ .sav creating a 00 chain in noise creating a 00 phrase in the 00 chain creating an A2 snare creating a more open but quiet snare like a 74 creating a hi-hat (open and closed) creating a 10 chain and phrase in Wave creating a table that cuts the instrument at an appropriate time applying a P command to drop the tone to make a kick drum

i know somehow you can do templates in LSDJ but doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of chiptune?

i miss immediate feedback. i should just learn to play some real fucking instruments

This is still one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever written.

I’ve mentioned before, but it’s essentially about how on my toughest days my favorite way to recoup is to lock myself in my room with all the lights off and play old games on my CRT TV. More or less what my entire week’s been like.

I remember when writing it I really wanted to have a rising action from turning on the TV to eventual hysteria of either happiness/sadness or a combination of the both. It’s the only concept track on my EP that achieved some sort of realization exactly the way I planned it to, at least for me.

Whoa what happened to my summer

Since mid-July I’ve been splitting my life between work, reading A Song of Ice and Fire (I’m only 310 pages into book 2 and I’ve never once watched Game of Thrones so no spoilers please u_u*), and hanging out with my friends on Discord every night.

I’VE MADE NO MUSIC since my Tatu cover except for one song that is a 2 minute smorgasbord of ideas for a possible full length album that I wanna make, and one collab I did with a friend. Recently that same friend gave me a great pep talk about being creative and working on one’s own schedule. It helped pull me out of a two month rut where I felt like I was contributing nothing creative to my life, which is something I feel is very necessary to satisfy post-film school.

There’s a chip show this upcoming Saturday. Two of my good friends are headlining, and I plan on playing the open mic. I’m really looking forward to staying positive this weekend and trying to keep SOME kind of momentum.
