WAIT ok you know whats crazy about the gerard quote talking about joan of arc being an inspiration, specifically the part about her cutting off all her hair. Obviously this is a moment where gerard is talking about her symbolic androgyny as inspiring to him and his art but ALSO. if you think about it. Gerard like...... also cut off all his hair to the chagrin of others. Like didnt kerrang devote A FULL PAGE to the news of gerard cutting his hair for ghost of you? Everyone is weirdly protective over his long black hair. Ik it was partially to like "be" the patient but its just funny that there's this parallel between joan of arc betraying her sex so to speak and people feeling betrayed by gerards effeminate locks being cut. Like its SO funny he obviously also REALLY bumped up the uh. Other effeminate stuff after he got the crop. To compensate. Its literally a pixie cut but like people still took it as "more masculine" which is HILARIOUS yeah gerard is really butching it up

But anyway. I think its kind of cool that gerard sort of "betrayed" his identity (obv not as radically as joan of arc) by cutting his hair. I think he also did a good job of like.... not letting people think that he wasn't his good old gendery self as before, just sort of like, destroying maybe the "safer" long black hair that had become somewhat accepted as defiant but still sort of masculine in the scene. Very cool.

This means if u don't like gerards white tbp crop youre exactly the same as a medieval French villager sorry :/
