hot artists don't gatekeep

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

Israel has deployed auto-firing quadcopters that emit the sounds of crying babies.

https://xtwitter.com/jam_etc_art/status/1780038184828608975

There is no possible reality where this is in any way capable of being passed off as self-defense. It was never self-defense. It is, and always has been, a genocide.

Crying babies. Crying babies. This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, meant to draw out and kill civilians while also making it far more difficult to locate and aid children who are trapped or alone.

If you have money to spare, please consider donating to some of the fundraisers on Operation Olive Branch to help people escape this genocide.

End the occupation. Free Palestine.

I liked this prematurely because I wanted to investigate for myself but yeah, it's true. Here's two news outlets reporting on the matter: https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/disturbing-recordings-crying-infants-played-israeli-quadcopters-lure-gaza-residents-shooting https://euromedmonitor.org/en/article/6271 Normally I try to find a recurring pattern for stuff like this however I think this information is too fresh for there to be a considerable precedent yet.

Important safety information about the eclipse on Monday

  1. You *can* remove the eclipse glasses during totality; not before or after.
  2. If you find yourself falling apart instead of falling in love, turn around, bright eyes.
  3. It is no longer considered best practice to cut the beating heart out of a human chest at the top of a pyramid to bring the sun back; nowadays, they just short out a LUCAS device.
  4. If you are imprisoned by an evil bishop, break out, and look for a hawk and a wolf who are in love.
  5. Most critically - No matter what, do not buy any strange and exotic plants which mysteriously appear during the eclipse.

Hi i've always admired how big you draw your characters and was wondering if you had tips for a novice. All the references I find for specific poses are very thin - how would I go about using those references to make the body much thicker, but anatomically correct?

Hi there! I hope you haven't been waiting too long for me to answer this! I would look up some anatomy references to help guide you when using references of thinner bodies. I look up references using terms like strong men, bodybuilders, bara, bears, and dad bod (if you're looking for a softer gentleman). For female bodies, cury or full-figured generally, give me some good results but to be honest, I rarely do draw women ;;;;;>_> and it's not that I don't like drawing women, I just rarely get a chance to draw them what with knowing the type of content my followers enjoy. That's totally on me though, I should really put aside some hours to draw more women. Okay, moving on from that little bit of yapping. I would look up some artists that draw the type of bodies you're interested in drawing and have some images pulled up in a separate window so you can reference how they would draw a particular part of the body. This isn't a bad thing to do, mind you, I know there's a lot of stigma around reference using and ''copying styles''. We artists are constantly inspired by other artists, so as long as you're not tracing their work and instead are using it for reference and inspiration, go ahead and save some works from your favorite artists. There have been more than a few times that references of actual people don't quite have the pose or the mass that I need for a particular body part, so then I look through my saved image folder to see if I can find a drawing to help give me a little guidance. I know some people hate this site but Pinterest can be a godsend when searching for references. I suggest making a couple boards for pose, anatomy, and expressions, if you haven't already done so. Pinterest has come in clutch when I needed to find something to help with anatomy or posing. Google image search can also be a tool if you know what you're looking for but be prepared as the search results can be hit or miss a good portion of the time. Learning to break the body down into shapes can also help someone learn to stylize bodies if that's the look you're going for. Breaking things down into basic shapes is a good exercise for artists that I don't see talked about much? Maybe I'm missing those conversations?? If you have the means, there are posable figures you can order. I'm not sure their exact pricing but I think it's safe to assume that those figures cost a good bit of money. If that's the case, you can search on Ebay for a male doll used for ''action figure'' making. Because sometimes having an actual physical thing you can hold can help a great deal. All artists are different though! There's no one way to learning this stuff! I hope these suggestions can help you out. Again I apologize if this is a bit late. Tumblr plays the fool on me and it just so happened I clicked on my inbox tab. Have a great day and thanks again for sending me this question.

Note: Sorry this took me so long to answer! Five Things that Make Me Happy: 1.) The love of my life, @mistermegee I could write a college thesis paper on how much mistermegee/cal means to me and I love him with all my heart and soul. 2.) Any pet I've ever have, do have, and will have. I'm an animal lover (horses, owls, and rats are my favorite animals). Presently Cal and I have two cats, Pumpkin and Navi and they're both little furballs with some sassy personalities. 3.) Music: Music is another big part of my life. I was first Clarinet in middle school though I left band by the time I entered high school because I didn't know how busy I would be and kind of regret not sticking with it. I also tried learning guitar but my fingers just don't want to cooperate. I was also a metalhead in high school but have since expanded my enjoyed genres but still don't overly enjoy pop or top 40 playlist groups. Some songs are good but pop music is too peppy for me. 4.) Video games, comic books, & horror content : I'm lumping these together since they usually fall under the class of media. Video games are a big part of my life (I have a sleeve tattoo dedicated to Dragon Age that I still need to have work done on.) All three of these subjects inspire me in my writing and world building for an interactive fiction I'm developing (very slowly developing to be clear). I even enjoy bad and classic horror movies. 5.) My hobbies!: This is probably the widest group of things that make me happy. Art and writing top this list, of course. Art, like music, is a huge part of my life. I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil and get my hands on some paper. I don't write as much as I should but god, in high school I had notebooks filled with a story I was working on (it was heavily inspired by isekai anime) but never finished. I also enjoy reading, crocheting, beading/jewelry making, and crafting/learning new crafts. Dungeons and Dragons is also a huge inspiration to my interactive fiction and I am getting back into playing Magic: the Gathering. Thrifting vintage items is also a hobby of mine along with collecting cool and eccentric items. Gardening brings me peace of mind and I'm very proud of my collection of plants that I tend to and I work hard to learn how best to care for them. Right now I'm learning how to best prune some of my plants that have gotten a little carried away with their growth. This year I'm going to attempt to grow my own crop of potatoes! I live in a building complex, so most of my food gardening has to be in containers/buckets but that's just fine with me! There are probably so many other things I could get into that make me happy when it comes to my hobbies, so I only included the big ones that I'm currently focused on. Thank you for sending me this ask and I hope you know a little more about me now. ^^ Have a great day!
