The star has arrived

Drinking a mouthful of punch, Nitro had to quickly lean bend to keep from dribbling it all down his front, his taste sensors assaulted by the overwhelming taste of alcohol. HOW?! HOWWW?? HE’D BEEN WATCHING THE PUNCHBOWL SINCE HE’D GOTTEN THERE!! Ooh, those DWNs were so sneaky… they managed to do this EVERY YEAR!

Wiping at his mouth with the back of his hand, Nitro decided to hold onto his cup of punch anyway rather than just dumping it back in, though he eyed the drink suspiciously before turning on his heel and catching the glare from his partner near instantly.

"Crash!" He exclaimed happily, glad to see him despite being given that look. “Your boots didn’t make it!” He added, almost sounding disappointed, but mostly sounding surprised as he made his way over to the taller robot, positively beaming.

"HMF!" was the only reply Nitro got from Crash, who turned his nose up at the stuntbot. "I want people to remember me for ME, not my clothing!" he insisted sulkily, attempting to cross his arms and failing miserably. They just didn't seem to bend right, or even very predictably. 

He snuck a peek at Nitro. 

He looked good. He looked really good. Was that new hair? 

The star has arrived

Among one of the first party-goers to arrive was Nitro Man, who was dressed rather sharply in a visibly expensive grey suit, even though the star had opted to go tie-less. His hair was looking longer (and softer!) than usual for the event, and was tied back loosely and elegantly at the nape of his neck rather than being pulled back as high-up and tight as he could possibly make it.

He was unsurprised that his ‘date’ hadn’t arrived yet, with only the party’s host, some green looking robot, a be-caped train-themed robot master and a few others that were just showing up in view. Being punctual had hardly ever been one of Crash’s strong points, but it was to be expected. Dressing himself wasn’t one of his strong suits either.

"Wow," Nitro breathed in awe. "This looks great!" He complimented to nobody in particular, looking around at the large expanse of meticulously landscaped greenery and copious amounts of beautifully arranged decorations. Impressive was certainly an understatement. After a moment more of admiring everything it in it’s glory before the masses would arrive, Nitro blindly fumbled around his jacket front for something in one of his pockets. Slooowly, very slowly he removed a pair of fingerless leather bike gloves, and pulled them on. He certainly wouldn’t have gotten IN wearing them, but the coast was clear now.

Now to get some of that punch before anyone did anything weird to it!

It doesn't even matter if I'm late. Crash rationalised to himself grumpily, still mad at Nitro if he'd completely forgotten why by now. He was pretty sure it was because he hadn't seen him in forever, and if it wasn't that, that was what the problem was now. 

Crash spotted him finally, over there at the punchbowl. Pouring himself a cup. In gloves. That jerk!

He was late because he couldn't dress himself, and even Quick had struggled with it. Not willing to spend another prom as an amputee, he'd had Flash make him some hands! They were barely functional and one was frozen in a "holding cup" position so he could moisten himself at the event, but it was much better than nothing. 

Crash'd forgone his traditional prom fare for a completely different suit he had one of his brothers snag him, and was looking pretty good, even if it was strange to see him not in his cream suit and boots. He continued to glare at Nitro from across the prom.

YOU'RE GOING MAKER DAMN YOU

Well… I was thinking…. maybe we can “work something out” at prom? Maybe? If you like?

It looks like it’s for robots by robots this year, cousin, the DLNs cancelled on us.

Oh, there’s another ‘robot prom’. I had missed last years. Tell me, does anyone know what the publicity and security will be like? I had just gotten away from a bit of trouble and I’m wondering if I should even go?
