Fay and Lilith
Fay sighed and gave her a look, before smiling as she was pulled closer to Lilith. “So I’m not allowed to buy you a ring at all?” She joked, raising a brow. “I’ll find a way to give you something to show my love, even if it isn’t a ring. It’s supposed to be a symbol of love and commitment. You might not need it, but I want to give it. Trust me, I’ll find a way.” She grinned before sighing. It was nice to lie here after the previous night. Their future seemed more certain now, and Lilith seemed more relaxed. “I think I’m very, very lucky to have you. I don’t know of anyone else who would put up with me quite like you do,” she joked, before she fell silent, wanting to simply enjoy Lilith’s company.
Lilith laughed softly at Fay's little joke, letting them slip into the comfortable silence. She ran her finger's through Fay's hair, closing her eyes slowly as she held her close. Being with Fay made everything in the world seem like it was going to be okay.. the love that filled this room would make anyone's heart melt.. it was fantastic.
"I hope you know that I love you very much... and nothing will ever change that... ever."

“A few days sound perfect.” Fay smiled at both the thought that Lilith’s mother approved, and Lilith had grown to love her soon after they met. “Seeing you without a ring makes me feel like you deserve one, too. I can’t exactly let you feel like you aren’t loved. What do you think?” Fay asked, reaching up to stroke the other woman’s hair.
“If you want a ring, we’ll go out at some point after your wings have healed.” She glanced back at Lilith’s injuries, and pressed a kiss to her temple. “I want you to be completely sure of how much I love you, since I fell in love with you just as soon as you did with me. I can’t exactly have you thinking you aren’t loved,” she said with a smile.
"I know I'm loved, ring or not." Lilith said with a smile, resting against Fay's hand as she stroked her hair. "Because you have the ring... I'm able to wait until the wedding- I'll get my marriage band then." She said with a small nod before slowly laying down, pulling Fay close to be Lilith's little spoon.
"Do not think that I will ever forget I'm loved... as long as you're around, it'll never slip my mind."

She smiled at Lilith and nodded, before pressing her face into the other woman’s hair. “You’re right. Your mom will be much happier if we tell her about the engagement before…” She trailed off and raised her head to look at Lilith’s wings for a moment. Lilith’s mother would probably still be upset by the wings of course, but at least she would also have a good thing to look forward to. “When should we call her?”
“Do you think your mother will be happy about this engagement?” She asked softly. Of course she was nervous that Lilith’s mother wouldn’t approve, especially after last night. Fay hadn’t been able or even around to try to protect Lilith from the angels, and that was probably something that could be held against her. Other than that, she couldn’t really think of any reason why Lilith’s mother wouldn’t want Lilith and Fay to marry.
Lilith honestly didn't want to call her mother any time soon.. she still had a week or so left in her trip, and she didn't want to drag her home so early. The threat of the angels didn't worry Lilith anymore, and her health seemed to stabilize.. so why worry mother so soon? "In a few days." She said with a nod.
Lilith laughed softly and looked up at Fay with a smile. "Mother will be so excited. She adores you, you know. Get ready for squeals and even screams in excitement.. She really grew to love you very quickly when she met you– and the same goes for me also."

“I love it,” she whispered quietly, looking down at it for a long moment and feeling the coolness of the metal against her skin. “You will live to see the wedding. It’ll be one of the happiest days of our lives.” She leaned her head against Lilith’s and sighed, closing her eyes as she pictured their wedding. Of course she didn’t have any details yet, but as long as they were together and happy, that was her ideal wedding.
“We’ll have to let your mother know, and our friends. Wedding planning is a big job, but I’m sure we can do it. Even if we just do something small in the backyard, I’ll be so happy,” she said.
Lilith smiled softly, the wedding taking her mind off of the pain. She pictured Fay in a gorgeous, flowing white dress.. Lilith planned to wear a nice, fitted suit- maybe pin stripe. Who knows?
"We should call mother..." she said, sighing, rubbing the corner of her eyes. "But we tell her about the engagement first.. to lessen the blow of.. everything else.."

Lilith carefully moved on the bed to get to the end table, taking a little box out of the drawer- a little, black velvet box. “I thought about it a lot.. but I never knew the right time. But while I ran, I didn’t want to die alone, or with you not knowing the extent of my love and adoration for you…” Lilith said as she got back a little, opening the box.
Inside was a slim silver ring, with a small ring of diamonds and a heart- one half Fay’s birth stone, and the other half Lilith’s.
“Would you be my wife?”

She didn’t know what she had been expecting when Lilith moved to the edge of the bed. Once she saw the box, however, she realized. Fay had never thought that Lilith would ever ask her to marry her, and even though she had wanted to ask, she was too nervous and afraid that it would ruin things. She certainly hadn’t expected it to happen after Lilith had been so injured, but that wasn’t going to stop her from accepting. “Yes, yes of course,” she said quietly, staring at the ring. It was gorgeous, and she found herself leaning forward to kiss her now fiancée.
“I love you. Of course I want to be your wife,” she said with a small smile, before she glanced back at the ring. “It’s beautiful.”
Lilith slipped on the ring with a smile, holding her hand there as they shared a kiss. "I love you, so very much." She said, cracking a true smile as Fay took in the ring.
"I had it specially made.. one of my dear friends owns the run shop in town, so he was able to make it for me. I'm so glad you like it." Lilith said, resting her forehead on Fay's shoulder.
"Now let us hope I live to see the wedding." She said with a small laugh.

“I love you, too,” she said quietly, leaning into the kiss and wrapping her arms gently around Lilith. “I’m glad that you’re here.” She was careful not to hurt or touch Lilith’s wings, and she rested her head on Lilith’s shoulder. “We’ll figure out a way to get your wings back to the way they were before. I won’t rest until you can fly again.”
Lilith just stayed quiet as Fay spoke, with an occasional "Yeah", which was drown out breathily. She wasn't quite sure what to do. She just sat there and thought what would have happened if she did die.
"Fay?" She asked, lifting her head.

Lilith just sat there, not wanting to share her answer. Ever since she was a little girl, since she learned she was different, she did want to be here. But she couldn’t die. Kill the human part, the angel lives. Kill the angel, the human lives. Kind of hard to kill both, (even more so with a mother who knows how to hold a soul and send it into a body.)
Lilith shook her head. “I don’t want to worry her on her travels… she’ll just try to hunt them down.. I can’t have her getting hurt too..”

“But maybe she could help you,” she replied softly, but she didn’t press the issue further than that. Instead, she leaned up to press a kiss to Lilith’s forehead. Her lack of an answer was an answer enough to her previous question. She moved to sit on the bed beside Lilith, studying the other’s face as she sat with her. She was really worried about her, and she didn’t know how to help her.
Lilith couldn't even force a smile when Fay kissed her head.. she was too... numb. She looked at Fay, not knowing what to say or do. She just studied the woman next to her. She took in every detail, how her eyes still held hope, the laugh lines near her mouth, the curvature of her lips..
"I love you." She said, leaning forward to kiss Fay's forehead before hugging her close.

Lilith just sat there, not wanting to share her answer. Ever since she was a little girl, since she learned she was different, she did want to be here. But she couldn't die. She pursed her lips and shook her head. “Not…not good. Not good at all. I’m so sorry, Lilith, but they look really bad.” Fay doubted she would be able to fly again, but she couldn’t say that to her, not now. She was afraid of how Lilith might react. “One looks like it’s worse than the other.” She squeezed her hands tighter and shook her head.
Lilith sighed and lowered her face into her hands, trying her best to keep all emotions inside. Her mother had some spell books for healing but you had to be highly trained to use them. Lilith was trained, but she was too weak to do anything.
"Do you ever wish you were never born?"

“No,” she lied, giving her a smile, “I slept like a log.” Fay would rather not let Lilith know that she had been up all night. She wanted Lilith to simply focus on healing. She studied Lilith’s tired face, and sighed. “Are you in a lot of pain?” She asked after a moment. She figured that she was, considering these wounds would take a while to heal.
Lilith nodded, trying to keep her eyes open. “But it feels so numb at the same time…” she said weakly, trying to sit up once again. She fought through the pain, and sat up, her wings hanging weakly. “They’re still there… right?” She asked, laughing sadly. They were so numb.

“Yeah, they’re still there.” She reached out and took Lilith’s hands in hers as she spoke. “Don’t try to move too much, okay? They might feel numb now, but they won’t if they’re hit off anything.” Fay wanted to minimize her pain as much as possible. She gave her hands a gentle squeeze before taking the opportunity to look over Lilith’s wings in the light of morning so she could really see the damage.
The wings held different amounts of damage. One just had gashes at the bone and lost some feathering, while the another had a rip through the skin from the base to the top bone, missing most of its feathers. It really didn't look like she could ever fly again.
"What do they look like?...." She asked softly, keeping her eyes locked on the wall.
