Too bad Lahore pigeons are a domestic breed and don’t appear in the wild at all. Some equally balanced wild colorations include

Pygmy Falcon

Great Hornbill

Wallcreeper

and

Black-throated Loon

this is a good addition to this post. thank you for this birds educations

I would like to submit the following additions to the world of exceptional bird color design:

Cedar Waxwing

Red Crowned Crane

Brahminy Kite

Green Tree Swallow (I mean seriously - those are metallic teal feathers against stark white. Damn.)

Bali Mynah

And, last but certainly not least, the cutest fucking puffball on this planet earth:

The Korean Crow-Tit

I’d also like to contribute some pretty awesome birds

Hooded Pitta (or as like to call them little olives)

Coua

Mot-Mot

The Blue Crown Pigeon (the biggest pigeon)

Happy news!

I had a cancer checkup this week and it was clear!

This means it’s been 8 months since my previous cancer recurrence, the longest amount of time I’ve gone without a recurrence since I was first diagnosed in September 2019.

I’m still getting monthly chemo treatments and a follow up exam in 3 more months.

It’s funny, after my last checkup 3 months ago, I was relieved but also so worried about the next one that I almost couldn’t enjoy it. This time, I don’t even care, I’m just happy this week.

Also it’s my birthday on Saturday EEEEE!!!!! so I will get to have a fun, cancer-free birthday and not have it hanging over my head or have to recover from a biopsy.

Between falling quality and increasing wokeness, I have very, very little interest in anything new from Disney or Marvel.

So I had no intention of watching the Loki series.

I just got an ad for it on YouTube and his voice still gives me shivers in my stomach and I’m like GOSH DAMMIT.

Look, I’m just gonna be honest here. I do love spiders—I think they’re fascinating and I am grateful for the role they play in the ecosystem.

And I will also say—after seeing a TON of wolf spiders running around in my garden—they are creepy AF and still make my skin crawl.

The word from the scientists this morning is that the U.S. is unlikely to reach herd immunity against covid-19 anytime soon (possibly ever), and that anti-vax sentiments are a big part of the reason why.

Can I just say, that I feel active resentment against people who refuse to understand, engage with, or otherwise even live in the modern world? That my sympathy for those who are intimidated by complex phenomena they don't understand, and so lash out with organized misinformation, has worn thin?

The pandemic is a global problem, but it's not so difficult that human beings can't come up with a realistic plan to manage it and bring it to an end. Yet we can't even follow the plan in a single large country because of foolishness. Simple foolishness.

We'll just have to keep on dealing with covid-19, and whatever mutant offspring it bequeaths us, because some people would rather believe nonsense than learn anything new.

Herd immunity is a form of indirect protection from infectious disease that can occur with some diseases when a sufficient percentage of a population has become immune to an infection, whether through vaccination or previous infections, thereby reducing the likelihood of infection for individuals who lack immunity.

This is the actual definition of herd immunity but I guess you've been taking in too much misinformation.

Also op is hysterical about mutations when viruses as a rule tend to mutate and evolve over time to become less pathogenic while we become more resistant.

Ok but please go read that MIT paper, it’s HILARIOUS!

They are so distraught over how us “anti-maskers” are using the same data and the same data analysis methods as “the experts” and drawing unorthodox conclusions.

Basically they said the data analysis and the graphs, charts, etc shared by many “anti-mask” groups online are of the same quality as those in published journals, but they promote unorthodox views. They use the term “unorthodox” extensively.

I also love how they keep referencing the “scientific establishment” like that’s not an oxymoron and like opposing the establishment is opposing science itself. I think some of them missed a lesson or two in their history of science class...

But their conclusion is essentially “uh oh, the common people learned how to use data and charts and they’re using them for things that don’t match the narrative and they’re good at it.”

It’s amazing.

SimonScience Says accept claims on faith in assertions and prescriptive submission, not evidence

Anyways, European and Chinese diseases are so common and diversified because city population density keeps them going round and round rapidly over and over, and the only way to solve future pandemics, including this one which has not collapsed Florida despite its massive senior population and massive tourism and laissez faire hands-off approach to quaruntine, is to end the forces causing urbanization and mass homelessness.

OP is espousing Wallstreet billionaire propaganda meant to encourage sales. Here is a CDC advisor ON VIDEO suggesting genocide of noncompliant customers by racial category. Theyre all shareholders, they all bought shares in these companies, they all profit on these sales and faith in the products. Also, here is a pre-2020 exposé on Pftzr mass lawsuit scams and legal unaccountibility, using shell companies.

And literally 5 minites before i saw this on my dash, i had just posted:

Neonazi punks think YOURE the science denier. Homeopaths and astrologers as well. And communists and creationists. So, pardon me if i neither blindly faithfully take theirs nor your authoritative assertions about what Simon Says "Science Says".

The purpose of calling someone a "science denier" is to propagate, as fact, claims without offering the evidence. Dogma, faith, allegience, authority, in place of demonstration, is not done in the spirit of scientific enlightenment, it's how literally all pseudosciences propagate. As a game of telephone, even if you inspire submission to your claims, and you have the evidence theyre true, in merely one degree of separation, the other person and everyone they pass the info on to, they dont underatand science and cant distibguish between demonstrated information and pseudoscience, and if you have your way, theyll be passing on both via the same method... the same method superstitions spread, bold assertion and gullibility.

Naming research groups, alleging concensus, and alleging evidences, arent science either, Patrick

Actually read the paper, I’m going to have to fight the author(s) if I ever encounter them in real life.  The gall it took for them to compare covid skepticism to their own marxist pseudo-science is unbelievable.
