It should be illegal or something to sing “This Land Is Your Land” without the secret verses

You took one of the greatest hobo anthems ever written and turned it patriotic. That’s basically a war crime.

Secret verses??!??

At the beginning:

As I went walking that endless bread line My landlord gave me a 2-week deadline And Labor Action ran a better headline: “This land was made for you and me!”

This land is their land, it isn’t our land From the plush apartments to the Cadillac car land From the Wall Street office to the Hollywood star land This land is not for you or me

So take your slogan and kindly stow it If this was our land, you’d never know it So let’s get together and overthrow it ‘Cause this land was made for you and me

And then in the middle:

As I went walking, I saw a signpost And the sign said “No Trespassing!” But on the backside, it didn’t say nuthin ‘Cause that side was made for you and me

Holy shit.

American folk singer Woody Guthrie, who wrote other songs such as Tear The Fascists Down, All You Fascists Bound To Lose, Miss Pavlichenko, and like 6 tributes to Sacco and Vanzetti, was what you might call a “communist”

Official Lyrics on Woody Guthrie’s website:

FFS he wrote on his guitar “THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS!” He was not a fan of American Capitalism or Imperialism.

because the reblogs are a shitstorm of r@df€ms and pr0lif€rs im not willing to delve into:

im pro-sarah who just doesnt want a baby

im pro-robert who is a trans man and would have to deal with the awful dysphoria that would come with having a baby

im pro-eric who is also a trans man, and would love to have a baby but it just wont work out with his life at the moment

I’m pro-Jessie who would have to share custody with a violent abuser or suffer a plethora of abuse, and terror, and even risk death trying to keep the child from him.

I’m pro-Lily who would have to go off her anti-depression medication that prevents her becoming suicidal and being trapped in her own depression to safely follow the pregnancy through.

I’m pro-Alice who knows herself well enough to know she would not be a good mother and doesn’t want to risk giving a child a terrible life on the off chance she’s wrong

I’m pro-Christy who suffers from tokophobia; a fear of pregnancy and childbirth. And would have to spend nine months living her worst nightmare to carry to term.

I’m pro-Samantha who would rather adopt a child whose already exists.

We are forced to live in a system that steals from us daily, Kill snitch culture.

Important things to keep in mind!

- never take from ‘mom and pop’ type store. Its likely you’ll actually harm them, whereas taking from a walmart wont effect much.

- never take items that a worker is assigned to monitor (usually super expensive items), theyll be in trouble for it. and its usually a minimum wage worker and usually they lose hours or pay, or they even get fired.

- similar to the above, never take things that are usually locked up for the above reason

- if its a store you know gives their near-expiration products to workers/charity, try to avoid taking the near expiration products.

- if youre taking clothing, avoid leaving hangers. it sounds weird, but itll make it seem like it was more likely an error in the computer than a theft, since the empty hanger sitting there will seem suspicious.

- also for clothing, try not to take more than one item at once, as it will look suspicious if theres 10 medium shirts missing, and it won’t be written off as just a stocking error. and it will lead to workers being penalized

- basically just always consider ‘will this harm a worker’ and if the answer is yes then dont do it

like i was homeless for a while when i was younger and i tried to follow those guidelines to avoid doing harm to people who were probably not much better off than me while trying to get food for myself.

Holy crap, is there like an unspoken thieves code or something?!

it’s a thing. I won’t even lie. I watched someone slip a nursing exam book in their bag at the store I worked at. She made eye contact with me and the blood drained from her face. I simply gave her a sympathetic nod and walked away.

I live in a small town and I knew she was a waitress at a hotel my sister works at, and people at that hotel don’t tip well during off season. Nursing exam books are 50+ bucks. Being a med student myself, I didn’t even breathe a word, and when inventory came up later and the book was missing, I suggested it was likely a mislabel, and the manager wrote it off.

Sometimes, thievery is a necessity. Don’t send people to jail over petty things.

theft for many is survival in this system and taking away from multi-billion dollar companies that are a part of the oppressive capitalist system

I love this post so much. Like, an unbelievable amount.

And they say there’s no honour among thieves.

There’s honour among honourable thieves. A thief is still a person, with the capability for good and bad, just like everyone else. The moment someone assumes either good or bad of someone, they perpetuate that belief into reality.

Never been a big part of this myself but I approve and shall pass it on

It’s Hama’s fault Kya is dead

This is one of my favorite theories behind atla and I wanted to share my own breakdown of it.

SO the raids on the SWT began in 40 AG. They continued until each and every waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe had been captured. (Note: captured

Worth noting is that Hama refers to herself as the last waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe.

Here’s where the conspiracy gets juicy. Hama was the only one who managed to escape. She created bloodbending to get out of the prison. And she says herself that she’s the only one who escaped. This could be for one of two reasons:

  1. All of the other prisoners had already succumb to the conditions or been killed
  2. The remaining waterbender prisoners were murdered after Hama’s escape

The second option is more plausible. Hama displayed a dangerous, powerful, unknown form of waterbending and overtook a Fire Nation guard’s body. She had him unlock her cell and fled. If there were remaining waterbenders in the prison they would have been killed out of fear once Hama escaped.

They Fire Nation couldn’t risk anyone else in their prison possessing this power. So they were all murdered because of Hama’s escape.

Look at Hama’s reaction to hearing that the raids continued. A kind of casual “oh, you poor things.” Hama knew that the raids continued because she escaped. All of the waterbenders had already been caught! The only waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe that was known at that time to be free or alive was Hama

And she knew better than to return to her home, where they were sure to come looking for her. She stayed and hid right under their noses because she knew they were going to tear the world apart trying to track her down. She was too dangerous.

When Yon Rha comes to the Southern Water Tribe in 94 AG Katara is still a child. Their tribe has been in shambles for years at this point. Katara is the tribe’s last hope and they’re a tiny tribe at that point in time. Do you honestly think that word of a child waterbender would have made way to the Fire Nation?

Do you think that the Water Tribe would ever release that information willingly? I don’t. I think that the Southern Raiders had no idea that another waterbender had been born into the Southern Water Tribe.

Why else would Yon Rha have accepted that an adult was the waterbender he was looking for? The intel didn’t say that a new waterbender was born, the intel said that there’s one waterbender left. The Fire Nation already knows about the last waterbender of the SWT. She escaped. And they’re still trying to find her.

The Fire Nation is adamant about finding the last waterbender because they’re looking for Hama. Hama, who can control people’s bodies. Hama, who managed to escape a high-security Fire Nation prison without any water. Hama, the only waterbender to best the Fire Nation. And the only one left.

Kya offers herself up as prisoner to Yon Rha. Because she knows that the past raids meant that the Southern Raiders took the waterbenders prisoner. But that has changed.

Why would their procedure have changed? Why did they stop taking waterbenders as prisoners? Because of Hama. They stopped taking waterbenders prisoner after Hama’s escape.

Tl;dr the Southern Raiders were never looking for Katara, they were looking for Hama.

Oh shit!

OH SHIT!!!

I think this is my first original post, but the series finale of The 100, my favorite show, has frustrated me to the point of a compulsory blog post.

I never thought I'd say this: This show was derailed by a narcissistic, spiteful showrunner who felt disdain and resentment towards his own fandom, his own characters, and his own lead actors. He hired all new writers, who didn't have the history and understanding of these characters and storylines. He changed the genre and themes of the show after 6 years. He gave us a nihilistic, City of Light-esque ending where the human race fails to do better or live happily and just accepts absorption into an alien hivemind instead. Where Clarke is made the villain and scapegoat for humanity's sins. Where giving her any semblance of a peaceful end required the destruction of the human race. And, most importantly, he systematically destroyed the most beloved and foundational relationship dynamic on the show: Bellamy and Clarke. They were the head and heart, the driving force of the plot, and it became more obvious when they were not there anymore to do so. Clarke's story was inexorably tied to Bellamy, so she and the story as a whole floundered in his absence. And that was because Jason insisted on ignoring a missing Bellamy rather than making that the story. And when he returned, the head/heart dynamic was dispatched cruelly, complete with painful callbacks and parallels, effectively stripping the show of its narrative backbone. It also dismantled the greatest familial relationship: Bellamy and Octavia. And worst of all, such a monumental loss had no aftereffects on the plot or characters and gave us no closure. A seven year journey of one of the most important characters came to an abrupt and pointless end.

This season was Jason's self-sabotage of the worst kind. He thinks his show was a "tragedy", but his legacy is the greatest tragedy of all. His personal vendettas and utter disregard of the story elements fans loved most benefit no one, least of all himself. We did not feel betrayed because he gave us loss, pain, and suffering. We felt betrayed because the show has always shown us that life was about more than brutal survival and tragic ends. That humanity was capable of something greater. That we could do better and learn to live happily. That we could find true peace if we were willing to work for it. That as long as we were still breathing, we could have hope.

And with this series finale, that hope has finally died.

Seasons 1-6 are the true story. Season 7 is, for lack of a better word, an anomaly.

You know, you’re right. I am a survivor.                          Without you, I’d just be surviving, Emori. I wouldn’t be living.                                                 JOHN MURPHY                                              [season 1 - season 7]
